How do you make those cute maps for direction cards

I am sitting here desperately trying to get my invites out be this weekend. (Haven't started stufffing ) My church doesn't have direction cards so I am sitting here DIM!!! I can't find a good map with the directions. Anyone have any ideas???

What I did was map the address of the church on yahoo maps. I zoomed in and out until I got all the major roads that I wanted in the pictures. Then I right clicked, and copied the image.

I pasted it into word. From there I used the drawing tools (autoshapes, lines, circles, etc.) to trace over the roads I wanted. When I had it all done, I selected the original map image and deleted it. I was left with a simplified black and white map.

I also went a little crazy and used clip art icons to signify the church, traffic lights, etc.

If you start with a larger map it's easier, but then you have to group all the things you drew together so that you can resize it. Once you get it the size you want, then you can add text boxes for words, otherwise they shrink up when you resize.
