How do you tone down highlights?

go back and ask solely for lowlights!

I wouldn't mess with it myself. I think lowlights are harder to do (requiring a more artistic eye) than highlights...

you can go back and get a toner put on... i woudnt recommend doing it yourself but you can do it at anytime it will tone it down a bit!! and you can have any stylist do it for you! good luck im sure it looks fine!
