Re: hOW EARLY CAN A BABY FLY ON PLANE???

I was curious about this too since I have to fly home when my baby will be 2 months old. My dr. said that was an ok age as long as she had her shots. I found this on Baby Center: Question: When is it safe to fly with my baby?
BabyCentre Editorial Team: A newborn can fly at a week old if it's absolutely necessary, but it's better to wait until he's at least four to six weeks if you can. By then you will know whether or not he has any underlying health problems which may make it unsafe for him to travel. Also, babies are so vulnerable to germs during their first month, he may pick up a stray bug if he's cooped up with dozens of strangers breathing recycled air for hours.

It's not a good idea for your baby to fly if he has a cough, cold or ear infection, so do check with your GP before flying if you have any concerns about his health. Don't be alarmed if you hear or read that flying increases the risk of cot death. One study did appear to show evidence of this, but doctors generally agree that the study was flawed and that more research needs to be done. In the meantime, most doctors advise that air travel is safe for babies.

Geno was 8 weeks when he flew for the first time. My mom and dad took him and they said he was fine.

I am talking closer to 2 weeks... I know it's early but it is a long story

This is a question for your child pediatrician, really.

But, in my own opinion, I would say that 2 weeks is way too young to bring a newborn on a plane. Airplanes are germ incubators (sorry, but it's true) and you really do not want a vulnerable infant in those confinded conditions.

Paul flew for the first time between 10-11 weeks old. He was fine for the entire trip!
