Before ANYTHING...figure out a realistic budget! That is the most important thing...cause you need to know how much you think you will be able to spend on the entire wedding...and realize that more than likely you will go OVER budget! If parents are contributing...sit down and ask them now how much they can give and such.
Then start considering dates and times of year you are looking into. Winter is cheaper, summer is expensive, etc. Do you have to have saturday nite or can you do sunday daytime? (drastic change in price)
THEN you can start researching halls once you have a general month in mind at least. things start rolling from there! GOOD LUCK!

Yay! Another 09 Bride Congrats!!!
You can def. start doing a little planning now. Set a budget, decide on a date, then visit a bunch of reception halls.
All the we have done is book the RH and Church. Everything else we arent planning until the end of summer.

ps-Your date you have in mind, May 16, is the date me and FH were going to get married!!!!! I still wish we could have gotten married that day.

Hi! Congratulations! My FH and I have booked the Church, Reception Hall (North Ritz Club) and the photographer (Patken). Patken had 3 weddings already booked on May 24th and a few places we looked at already had the day booked! I would definatley start looking at RH now.

It's never too early. These vendors really start to book early too. Anyway i feel like i'll be able to chill out a little more right before my wedding.

I'm officially an 09 bride...I jus booked Westbury Manor last night for May 09!!!!!
I have been looking at places for almost a year because I didn't want to book too early because that means I would have to wait that much longer...next thing I'm going to book is the church and then take things slower...
I bounced around with the dates first i wanted christmas time then spring then fall then went back to spring FH wanted to kill me but now we are all set and ready to go....
So I would say now is not to early to plan your wonderful day! Good Luck

Plan as early as you can!!!!!!!!
remember if you book a DJ in 2007 - his prices are going to be about 2 - 300$ cheaper than they will be in 2009. You can save money and also have to deal with less stress as you get closer to your big day!

I say whenever you can. We booked the hall and the florist and I want to book photo/video and the dj by the end of the year. I want to lock in on all the 07' prices. They will only go up.

I havent either!!! LOL
Well our reason is pretty good also...we would like to have it in Disney where we got engaged! We are planning to go there for Halloween and you cant book more than a year and a half in advance anyway.
Until then we are going to look around up here first to get an idea and compare
