How early do you need to book the church? any recommendations?

Original post by SFBride2Be

so we are getting married at the Bourne Mansion on 8/23/2008.

I am Catholic and my FH is Episcopalian. We are looking to get married in a church of either kind near the mansion. How early do you need to book the church? I feel like I don't know anything about planning a wedding!!!

Any recommendations on nice churches in the area???

By the way this site is amazing for completely clueless brides to be like me....thanks for all of your advice!!!

I think the church should be booked first..... I wouldn't tell them that you already booked the RH, they don't really like that.

I'd definitely do it ASAP, too!

We're having our reception at the Bourne too... And we're having our ceremony at Saint Ann's Episcopal Church in Sayville. It's not far and it's really prettty... my FH is Catholic too and they didn't have any problem marrying us.

Oh that's great! I actually would prefer an Episcopal church (even though I'm catholic) so I will definitely check it out!

Thanks!

If yuo have a preference, I would call when you decide on the date you want to ensure you get the church. I booked mine 2 years in advance I was crazy, But I would say if it really matters to you, do it as soon as possible. If its not a big deal as to which church you get, then I would say about 9 months to a year before.

I would call the church ASAP too....and maybe not mention that you booked a place yet...apparently my church doesnt appreciate not booking the church first...so I had to lie a bit....

I booked my church this weekend for my wedding in September 2008. I did it bc I wanted to make sure I got the latest time available for a church ceremony since my reception starts @ 7 pm. I was lucky to get the 3 pm ceremony instead of the 11:30 am ceremony. It's best to book early to get the time you want.
