How far ahead did you book your reception location?

I just got engaged about 3 weeks ago and am aiming for an October '08 wedding and I know that due to the high volume of weddings out here that I need to book a place soon. I noticed that a lot of you other '08 brides have booked. How far ahead did you book? I guess you might say I'm kinda stressing already....

Forced myself to at least wait till Dec. 06 for a March 08 wedding. Reception spots are the first to go.

July of 2006, for February of 2008...gave us a LOT of flexibility, and he was really willing to work with us on the price!!

2 years if I could do it all over again I would have saved money first then book closer to the date... they discount when they try to book dates last minute (6 months) but on the plus side I've been able to make payments towards the final bill.

we had to change ours so we rebooked in May of 07 for sept 08...and i couldnt get the day I wanted

I booked August 07 for May 08. You should start looking but I wouldn't stress too much unless you have a specific date you want.

Booked on 8/25/07 for 8/23/08.
If you are planing to have your ceremony at the RH, I recommend looking ASAP. I thought we had planty of time, but b/c we needed the ceremony at the RH, that was the only available Saturday in August left at our hall!!

I booked Aug 07 for April 08 ~ just so you know they didn't have my dates for Sept 08 or another weekend in April 08.

I booked in Aug 07 for May 09 and the date I wanted was gone

Booked Aug 07 for June 08 - just a tip - since everyone books so far ahead - you might be able to barter a better price with the RH since if they have dates open for 08 - they want to get them filled.

i got engaged in 2005 and i booked my hall that year even though i am getting married in 08 it was easier for my parents. Their paying for my wedding so it gave them time to pay the balances.
