How far ahead did you book your reception location?

I just got engaged about 3 weeks ago and am aiming for an October '08 wedding and I know that due to the high volume of weddings out here that I need to book a place soon. I noticed that a lot of you other '08 brides have booked. How far ahead did you book? I guess you might say I'm kinda stressing already....

booked may 07 for aug 08 (sun afternoon)
i wanted a specific date and luckily the hall i loved had it open

booked dec 2006 for may 2008, would have booked sooner, but couldn't decide on a date.

If you have a certain place in mind you may not be in luck. But if you are open to venue's I am sure you will luck out and get a price cheaper than someone who has booked very early. Because as much as a bride does not want to think of her wedding day as a business, but the catering halls do. So the later you go, the more they are willing to work with you since they want all their days booked up, and if that means giving you a better price, rather than making no money, what do you think. This is my experience. Girls corect me if i am wrong. Good luck though, you may find an amazing venue at a awesome price!

Booked in May 07 for July 08...there were only TWO Dates left for summer 08 when I booked THAT far ahead.
