How far are you willing to go in order to get pregnant?.......
I was having a serious conversation with a friend about my infertility issues. I have PCOS and have been unsucessful in becoming pregnant.
I am not sure how far I will go. I have crappy insurance and really don't want to take shots of horomones.
What about you ladies?

If we can't conceive the old fashion way...that is it for us

I feel the same way. I think that DH and I would try to adopt if the old-fashioned way doesn't work out for us.

DH and I will start trying next year. Old Fashion way or adopt. I kind of want to adopt a child anyways, even if we have our own.

I know I would consider IUI, but probably not IVF or fertility drugs. I don't think there's anything wrong with those who choose to do that though.
We would definitely consider adoption.

I would consider in vitro and fertility drugs...and adoption if nothing worked. We both want to be parents more than anything.

Just out of curiosity -- for those of you that have decided to not use fertility drugs -- why?

Me too. I have also spoken to my sister, way before I was even married, and told her that if I can't carry, she is going to have to do it for me. So I would also consider surogacy.

I don't know. Six months ago I would have said that I would not go to extraordinary means to have a baby, but it's on my mind a lot more now. I've been extremely anxious that it won't happen easily. I think that's a decision I can't make now.

For me, I do not like the idea of extra drugs and hormones. I will never take the pill ever again. Everything might be tested and approved, but I am a worrier of long term effects. The ladies on this board are very strong, and I pray for them that the emotional rollercoster they live on will have a happy ending soon. I hope their future children will realize how badly they were wanted in this world. However, that is a ride that I do not wish to take. I know people have different views on adoption, but to me, I don't have a dire need for my child to begin life inside of me.

As far as possible. There is nothing I want more . However, I would also be thrilled to adopt a baby.

hmmm... that's a tough question for me, because I don't know what I'd do. I'm remaining optimistic that we'll eventually have kids the natural way. If not, then I'll cross that bridge when we get there.

I have GREAT insurance, so I am in the process of IUI, and will do IVF if have to. I know it is not the most romamantic way. Adoption is something Im not considering because Im hopeful I will have my own child. Im NOT giving up

As of right now I think that I would do whatever it takes to get PG....but I won't let it ruin us financially. I'm also open to the idea of adoption or even surrogate Mom.

Re: How far are you willing to go in order to get pregnant?.......
i would just like to say that a lot of you girls that are just starting to ttc might change your mind if you have a very difficult time getting pg. i hope you never face that difficulty, but i too never thought i'd take drastic measures, but now i'm starting to change my mind (one year after actively TTC.) Part of me feels if it's meant to happen, it will happen naturally, but we rely on science for everything else that goes medically wrong with us, so why is this different? we need antibiotics to fight off infections, etc. sorry, sore subject for me these days....
ETA: I am also more open to adoption than DH. DH wants me to go through all RE tests before we adopt bc he's terrified of adoption. For all of you ladies who want to adopt, I hope your DH's are on the same page when reality hits. Good luck and baby dust to all!

Re: How far are you willing to go in order to get pregnant?.......
I probably would have gone forward with IVF, but only to the point where I could emotionally handle it... I totally agree with matron. The simple truth is we use medical intervention for nearly everything, and probably 70% of us wouldn't be alive with the advent of antibiotics, medical technology and what not. Even though I conceived fairly quickly, I miscarried with my first pregnancy, and it turns out, the reason was because my progesterone levels were too low to sustain the pregnancy. Now I'm almost 20 weeks along, and I have to thank for that a little pill I took every night for the first 12 weeks of the pregnancy... without that, I probably would have miscarried again.
