How far in advanace did you start your dress search?
I am scared to start looking with my wedding almost a year away bc I'm scared I'll fall in love with something and then second guess myself. Help!
How far in advance did you start your search/did you pick your dress already??

I found my dress two weeks ago and I'm not getting married until 9.4.11. I just couldn't help myself hahaha.

I got mine just a little over a year of our wedding date. I found it on my first trip out.
I tired on like 10 dresses and just kept going back to this one.
IMO i dont doubt there is another dress out there that i would love to wear - I didnt get that whole 'OMG this is the one feeling' like some people explain but I love my dress. It has everything i ever wanted and more.

i don't think you have to be scared. start looking around if you feel like it, but once you pick your dress, STOP looking!!! everyone i ever made told me the same thing! once you find your dream dress, don't keep looking because there will always be beautiful dresses out there, but if you picked yours already, rest assured that you loved it when you put it on and its the one for you

I think it's very smart to be cautious about purchasing your gown now. I've seen maybe 5 2010 girls just recently change their dresses at the last minute! That being said, I think you should go and start looking! It might take you longer than you think to find the one! I went dress shopping maybe 6 times? I tried on anywhere from 8-15 dresses at each store! Even if you find the one and you are in love with it, I'd suggest browsing one or two more times before purchasing just to be certain! Good luck!!
ETA: And don't let the sales people pressure you into buying!!! They always say it takes 1743550 months for it to come in, not true! They told me 9 months for my dress and it came in 2! Or like they did to Jessie, telling her the dress was going to be discontinued so she better hurry up and purchase the sample! That turned out to be false, also!

I have less than a year to go and I haven't started looking yet. I think I'll either start the end of July or early August.

but keep in mind, some place take even longer than they tell you!! 8 months is probably the norm i think.. i know that anything later than 8 months at kleinfelds is considered 'rushed'

How far in advance did you start your search/did you pick your dress already??
I have the same problem. Somehow I feel that it is too early to start looking but when I see alot of girls already have so much done I feel like i'm behind in my planning.
I guess I should start looking.

yay!!! The next couple of months are very busy for me, I was thinking of waiting until January to get past that, and hopefully lose some lbs. but if it takes so long to order the dress I was thinking maybe I should start looking now, a year or so out.

I started looking early this month.. I actually found my dress last week.. I've been engaged since Dec and I purposely waited for the reason you're talking about... I didn't want to find 'the one' and then second guess myself, but I decided to start because I wanted to give myself a few months to look before I absolutely had to order.. I really didn't expect to find the one, but once you do you kind of know there will be nothing better out there.. My advice to you would be start looking until you find the one then wait a little to order it. I am waiting til August to order mine (it's the designers 2010 collection so I know it won't be discontinued) HTH

I found my dress in February on accident. I waited a while and continued looking in late April/ early May and couldn't find anything else.
I went back and ordered my dress from Pronovias mid-May. They already scheduled my 1st fitting for the end of March 2011. I'm glad I went and ordered when I did bc I know when schedule next year will be limited as to when I can get to Manhattan to do fittings/pick-up

I haven't started yet and I'm starting to get stressed since I'm past my year mark. I just haven't fallen in LOOOVE with anything online that's also in my budget so it's not really getting me excited to go and try on dresses.
I have champagne taste on a beer budget
nah, not really, my budget is decent but the dresses I love are like 8,000.

I played 'dress up' at around the 18 month mark but I only started seriously dress shopping at the beginning of this year. I was waiting to find a particular dress and I'm glad I did because it turned out to be the one.

How far in advance did you start your search/did you pick your dress already??
I have had my dress since May and Im not getting married until next september Its never to early to start... you can start looking at magazines or websites and try to get an idea of what styles you might like, or you could be like me who fell in love and ordered immediatley haha
