My wedding is September 7 and the RSVP date is August 4. Should I send out the invitations in end of May, first week of June? Is that the right timing?

I'd send them out at the end of June. You don't want to give people more than 6 weeks to respond or else they'll forget to do it.

I agree - you want people to feel a sense of urgency or they will just set it aside and forget
