The questions is not exactly correct. Let's see how I can phrase this....
During the course of a day, most of us interact with people of the opposite sex... we converse with them, joke, and maybe even what SOME might consider flirting. I can see this needs to be a two-part question.
What do you consider 'harmless' flirting (if at all)? And how much harmless flirting do you do that you DO tell FH about and how much DON'T you tell FH about? Is he bothered by any of it? Are you bothered by his harmless flirts??
If, for example, you spend the better part of 5 minutes interacting with a male co-worker jokingly teasing him about why he 'flirts' with YOU -- would you consider that flirting? Would you tell FH about a silly little episode like that? How would he react? What if you had told FH in the past that you thought this male co-worker was attractive, not your type, but attractive nonetheless?
I know, I know... the questions just got more specific. Where's that sheepish emoticon when you need it!

Re: How honest are you with FH about your flirting?
Probably prefer not tohear about it....I do the same thing to him, I think it is my insecurity and I try to get a 'rise' out of him.. try to make him jealous.
I think if you act like it doesn't bother you at all he will eventually stop trying to make you jealous. Easier said than done, but that is my opinion - although I don't practice what I preach either.

I would prefer not to hear about it - and I don't talk about it either. My hubby is a jealous type so what he doesn't know can't hurt him. But I don't flirt anymore.

Re: How honest are you with FH about your flirting?
We are both the same apart as we are with each other in terms of flirting and friendliness.
Fh has never mentioned anything to me that bothers him. I, on the other hand, have on occasion mentioned something to him.
Growing up in New Mexico, he learned to be super friendly and he is very free with compliments. He is not flirting, but some people can interpret what he says that way.
It's who he is and I accept that. He's very much a Magoo when it comes to stuff like this so I have nothing to worry about. But occassionally it bothers me and then I tell him.

Honestly, I don't care if he says, or doesn't. Generally, I'm not a jealous person because I know he has no intentions behind any of it. Now, if a girl is pushing up on him, then I DEFINITELY want to know! I will immediately post a topic, and round up a few LIW 'homies', and go on attack mode! lol

So would you all prefer to HEAR or NOT to hear about FH's harmless daily flirts???
Like if he came home and was like 'Oh, so-and-so was flirting with me today and she said yada yada yada....'
Or would you rather he kept that stuff to himself?
I would like to know. A little jealousy here and there makes you try a little harder sometimes.

Neither of us are flirters. Well I used to be, when I was interested in someone. But now that I have the man that I want, I don't. So I guessthere is nothing to tell.

It seems like you're insinuating that we all flirt because we're interested, or want someone other than FH... is this accurate?

Flirting can be harmless and fun and make you just feel a little special. But it doesn;t mean any more than that. Except, of course, if you are my ex. He used to flirt with everyone, and was excused because 'oh, that's just the way he is'...til I coaught him flirting with his best friend's wife (my best friend) on the phone.....ahem...more than flirting, really, much more. That's where that marriage ended.

No, that is not accurate. I was talking about my experiences, no one elses.
But that does bring up a good question: why flirt with someone if your not interested in them? What's the point?

Re: How honest are you with FH about your flirting?
WHY would you EVER tell you FH that you found a particular man you work w/ attractive and even put the idea out there ??? - Unless, of course you felt guilty about something. .......... there are plenty of cute guys in my office, am i interested in them ? no !! - so WHY tell FH about how 'cute' they are ?? I don't really want to here about the women he sees all day while i'm not there !!!

I guess I flirt. I don't know...it's weird. I would NEVER EVER go along with it. But if a guy smiles at me, I will smile back. Or I kid around. Not at work...that guy is an a$$. But all in all....I think it is harmless.
I must also say that I am flattered when someone thinks I am a 10 but I am offended when like nasty old men or men that aren't citizens just stop, gawk, stare and start making comments...THAT MAKES ME SICK!!!

Seemed accurate to me, only because if you have nothing to tell, then what was the point in responding?
To answer your question, though, flirting doesn't necessarily mean SEX. Flirting could be just to people being friendly joking about ANYTHING, just to pass the time. Especially if you see the same person every day, are you just going to not talk to the person, or scowl at them so that they don't get the wrong impression? It's ok to loosen up a little with people sometimes, so long as you're not misleading.

OMG, I feel the same way!!! Old construction workers drooling & oogling are SOOO ANNOYING! If I would get $1 for every 'viejo verde', as I call them, I'd be RICH!

flirt (P) Pronunciation Key v. flirt·ed, flirt·ing, flirts v. intr. To make playfully romantic or sexual overtures.
What you described is not flirting, it's just being friendly. I talk to my coworkers all the time. We joke around and chat about random stuff. But that is not flirting.
Gosh!

ACTUALLY,
flirt 1. To make playfully romantic or sexual overtures. 2.To deal playfully, triflingly, or superficially with: flirt with danger. 3.To move abruptly or jerkily.
What I described IS flirting... see #2.
Dunno why you're 'goshing'... u need to settle down.

Re: How honest are you with FH about your flirting?
I dont think it is flirting if it is just how you interact with people.
FH and I have a married couple that we are very close with, and an outsider might say FH flirts with this woman, or that I flirt with the man, but that is just our relationship with this couple. It is harmless and we are both so secure that nothing would ever happen!
If the flirting is an unsual behavior or a behavior that you have with just one other person, and you would act differently infront of FH I think then it has moved way beyond harmless.

Um, just to clarify... I didn't tell FH that. It was a hypothetical. And if anything *whispering* the situation is reversed!
