I am the one on control of the budget. I narrow things down and then choose with FH.

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
We actually do everything together. We are splitting the bills and everything for the wedding so we make the final decision together. If I want something that he isnt too crazy about than he gets to choose something that he wants there. He likes going to the appointments because he says I only get married once and I dont want to say I had no part in planning it.

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
I guess right now I am more in control than he is...he hasn't actually been to a single vendor appointment and we've booked the RH, DJ, Photographer and DOC...but then again he's been in Ohio. I showed him all the research I did and consulted with him before I booked anyone. I actually showed him a couple of photographer's websites and he told me which one he really liked the best (they are the ones that we booked with).
So technically me but I would never do anything without his explicit approval.

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
well we figured out our budget by estimating how much we are spending on our RH (which is about 50% of the budget)...and i found this really helpful budget tool on the knot and i worked my budget from there

same here. aside from a few select places, we have been to all the appointments together and we both agree on decisions to get.
i have more time to look for vendors, so i basically set the appointments at times that are good for both of us. in general, im looking for affordable vendors, so the budget we kind of set in advance and we are trying to stick to it
if i see cute things for favors or napkins or little things like that, i will tell him i want to buy it. so far i havent gotten any pushback on that. i bought our placecard stuff without showing him...but i told him before i purchased it.

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
I'm pretty much in total control. My parents are paying for the wedding, so I have the access to the money. I make all of the appointments and FH just tags along. But when it comes to making decisions, we do it together. For the most part, FH really doesn't care much about vendors, except the hall and the band. Otherwise it's all been 'whatever you want, dear'

I've pretty much been in control. I do all the research and then show FH the ones I've narrowed it down to. And that's exactly what he wanted. FH didn't want to have too many options.

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
i am in control but only with what i really want to control.
since my parents r paying for the RH that was fully my choice. i guess if FH really hated it then we would of had a problem but he liked what my sister & i picked.
i am paying for the band, videographer, photographer & limos. so i am using who i want to use. the only one that i let FH have a say is with the band but its the one request he had.
the church was some what of a forced decision. FH never received confirmation so we had to go with a priest who didn't see that as a problem. luckily we found a great priest & a magnificent church.
as far as flowers & cake go, FH can basically do as he please. i am not a cake person & FH worked for a florist for years so he has full reign.
the other little details (invites, favors, ring pillow, unity candle, etc.) i will consult him prior to ordering because i think these things should reflect both of us.
FH is also fully in charge of the honeymoon, he is fully footing the bill so its up to him. & my wedding band is going to be a surprise between the 3 i tried on. (although i think i know which he is going to pick)

I am the one in control. My mom is helping us pay for the most part, but I do most of the research and make the appts and he comes along with me and we decide together....when we go to see vendors he is the one who is more in control cause he asks way more questions than I do! LOL

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
I'm doing most of the research of vendors, but we haven't actually met with any vendors yet - we've only booked the RH.
From my research, he and I have narrowed down some of the vendors that we'd like to meet with.
The only vendor that he doesn't care much about is the florist. He's very much concerned about the music, photog and cake. I don't mind making the flower decision on my own, and he doesn't mind if he's left out of that one entirely, LOL.
In LIW world, I guess I'm considered to be waaaaay behind, since we're almost at the one-year mark and don't have anything else booked. But it'll all come together...I work better under pressure. I think I'm also really casual about these kinds of things in general, which is good.

I have all the control...except for tuxes..he can overrule me on that, but otherwise he lets me do what I want for the most part...

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
We basically put the same amount of money into the wedding account, maybe him like a hundred or so more a month but I definately control how that money is spent. He would have no idea and spend it all in a day. Like Jill said, tuxes are really the only part he will have total control over (well, not total, lol)

I am the one in control, I will be paying for the wedding but Fh may have to help towards the end so he watches all the spending and how much everthing is, but I do the planning and make the apps. for us !!

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
Fh and i are splitting the $ 50/50. He is contributing a little more into savings cuz he makes more and i have more bills and my mom is giving us some $ also.
I wouldn't get or book anything w/o showing FH first. Not that he really cares but i like his opinion and try to give him some control. I should be careful what i wish for maybe.

Re: how IN CONTROL are YOU?
FH and I are paying for 75% of the wedding and both sets of parents are helping as well with the rest. I'm mostly in control of doing the research, taking care of the budget and planning the appointments but ultimately when it comes to making final decisions we do it together. I want him to be involved I really don't want him to sit back and just yes me to death. It's his day too (maybe not as much as it is mine but somewhat his )
