how is everyone doing?

FH and I lost power Monday afternoon. Weve been going back and forth between his parents and mine. We were both out in the storm on Monday with the fire department. Between 3 and 11 we responded to over 40 calls. Mostly down power lines and trees. In our area we are fairly lucky. Only minor damage to our houses. There are a lot of houses in our area that severely damaged. Weve also both been out of work which totally sucks. I have to use my vaca time to still get paid and FH doesnt get paid at all because hes not there a year yet. Sandy is really messing up my plans Glad to hear that everyone is okay!!!

I am so sad to hear all this. A lot of people here upstate are not understanding the severity of the situation. I have also heard a NYS death toll in the 30s. Regardless, it's too high. Give my thanks to your FHs for their strength and dedication during a time when they are truly needed. My heart goes out to all of you ladies and your families! Stay strong!

THANK GOD we were spared most of the devastation!

We have no power but everyone is safe and our house is in one piece.

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing well.

All good on my end. I'm in the Bronx and fortunately was in an area that didn't get hit hard. Didn't lose power, thankfully! My prayers and thoughts go out to everyone who was/is affected by the storm. Hope things get better for you asap!

I was blessed, but my future in-laws lost their house. It's devastating. They are trying to find somewhere to go until they can figure out what to do and all the hotels are packed. It's very sad. I feel horrible. I took a break from planning b/c I feel guilty when they've lost everything.

I'm absolutely devestated for my friends and family who lost their homes or had bad damage.

My FH was there as well on a 36 hour shift... the death toll isn't in the hundreds, probably closer to 50 or so when all is said and done. A lot of people drowned in their houses when they flooded or burned in them in a huge fire that destroyed about 50 houses or so. FH put pics up and they are gut wrenching...god bless the first responders...it would have been so much worse without them.

h got sent to breezy point yesterday and he said its beyond worse than what te media is saying... Hundreds dead and sooooooo much looting over millions of dollars taken.

Fbil is Fdny ems, and fh is FDNY. Between the two of them ther companies pulled out over 25 bodies and that was just yesterday. Most houses haven't been searched yet. And breezy def lost over 100 homes. There are ten blocks that are completely gone. I wish it was only 50

Glad to hear that you & your families are SAFE!
So sad to hear about the houses and especially, the lives lost....

Only damage was some shingles off the roof and a branch fell off a tree in our front yard and hit the roof of my car, bounced off and hit my Mother's car. Nothing that can't be easily fixed, thank God.
We lost our power on Monday night and are still without. Work is without power... so I'm out for the week. Just happy & thankful that my family & friends & animals & house are all safe & sound. Can't ask for more than that!!
I'm at my fiance's house now & was able to get a warm shower atleast.

hello!

we are also without power still. But, thankfully, no damage. Nights are spent driving to my sisters for a hot meal and showers. (she never lost power in middle island)

we are without power at work too. FW doesnt have to go but i am on a generator in riverhead.

im glad we are all ok i was SO worried when i didnt hear from my mom in 24+ hours (no cell service in NPT areas)

I live in Long Beach and evacuated to a hotel in Melville. We can't go home for 2-3 weeks they are saying. Long Beach got hit really bad but thankfully we have no water damage. We are sooo thankful since all of LB got flooded.

It looks like I won't be able to go home for maybe a month or longer they are saying. I went the other day to get some things from my house and it was like a war zone. I came back soo depressed. I can't believe the way LB looks

FH and I personally made out OK. We were in Mexico until this past Wednesday, so we missed the storm. His house is fine and our kitty is no worse for wear.

When we flew into JFK you could see patches of darkness throughout Queens. The airport was like a refugee camp: rows upon rows of people sleeping on cots or on cardboard boxes. It was like a movie.

My matron of honor lost everything. I spent yesterday trying to help her and her husband salvage what they can from their apartment. There's about an inch of mud on their driveway, and the water line is at my knee. They live(d) about a block and a half from the bay in Lindenhurst, and their entire neighborhood was devastated. Vases and shot glasses in her china cabinet were still full with sea water, and there was seaweed in one of her closets. I am at a loss for what to do.

We got our first engagement gift yesterday: a set of monogrammed wine glasses. It was a nice bit of normalcy. And I have a pretty rocking tan from Mexico, so that's pretty rad.

Jess is OK as well. I believe she is still staying at her parents house and they have not gotten power back there yet so I'm assuming that is why she has not been on. She posted some pics on facebook of her Long Beach neighborhood, so sad to see LB looking like that!!

We haven't had power or heat since Monday. I haven't had work because the school doesn't have any power and I'm waiting to hear if I'm working Monday (I miss my kids!) My parents are in Florida, but my brother told me that the house had power, so I packed up FH & our kitties and now we are there. Warm and content (I'm on the computer and he's playing Madden lol). Hope everyone is staying safe!
