for their wedding? I dont have anythign saved yet...except for $1000.... ahhh hello..... dont ya think i should be a little more on top of that.
what is everyone doing to save? any special little things that i can try out?

Whatever extra money comes in like our tax checks, birthday money, engagement money I put into our wedding account and then I am taking money out of our checks and putting it into our wedding account.

i just put most of my paycheck towards the wedding lol. I was doing GREAT!!! and was actually ahead, then right when i realized i was ahead, of course some things came up and i had to pay a couple thousand dollars to something very unexpected So now that i paid all that, i have to get back on track and make up for what i just lost

We're not really doing anything special, but we really should start!
With the money we got from the e-party, we opened up a joint savings account and put it in there. That's all the money we have so far, but FH works and now that I'm done student teaching I'll be getting a job, so with every paycheck, we want to put a little in our account.

Im trying to put a couple hundred away every month, but its so hard! We just got a new apartment which took away money and we bought new furniture. So we had to start saving all over again! its super hard!!

after we got engaged fh and I set up a joint savings account and agreed to each put in a certain amount from each paycheck-no excuses-and we have kept with it, with neither of us missing out even on one check.
We've been engaged for about a year and three months and we already have saved enough to almost pay off all our vendors already in full.
It's something I'm really proud of too cause we're doing it entirely on our own and I usually stink at saving!
ETA: it also helps that FH and I still live at home with our parents so we don't have to worry about rent or food or other expenses of living on our own..

My paycheck goes straight into out savings account with my direct deposit. We use FH's pay for spending.

see i always say.. okay this week.... this amount is going into savings... and then bam... something happens, and we need that money.... and i jsut cant get on track.... so now i am going to focus really hard on try to put the money away.

I started putting 10% of my paycheck in a separate account almost 2 years ago for wedding expenses - mind you, this was right around the time I started dating FH and way before we were engaged -

We put a couple hundred dollars away every paycheck. We keep track of the payments in an excel sheet that tells us how much more money we have to save and how much we have in our savings account.
FH made a very intense excel sheet. All the cells are linked to each other. When you put in your wedding payment in the payment column it updates it in about 5 different places.

We just paid off a credit card and a car payment... a few hundred goes into savings every month and that's a set amount.
We also took an empty soda bottle and put all of our loose change and singles into it at the end of every week... we used a soda bottle because the only way to get the money out is the cut open the bottle...

I cant stress enough how important it is to put away as much money as you can. Don't expect for it to miraculously show up close to the wedding and dont expect to oh ill just put more the next paycheck or whatever.
Life is full of surprises and if you hit a bump in the road, it can really throw you off and make things difficult.
The money i had to give recently that was NWR and unexpected S***** but i did have it, should've gone towards the wedding but i was able to pay that off, i do have some leftover too, and just the next paychecks, i really have to give just about all of it towards the wedding now...its definitely a set back, but if i didnt have the money i owed and wouldve had to come up with it and then it wouldve taken twice as long to also come up with the wedding payments.
It might not be a situation like i had, but it can be problems with a car, medical bills, just about anything

saving??? whats that? lol i have only been able to save enough to make my payments at the hall every 2 months!! i gotta look for a second job!! but i have saved money by booking all my vendors thru wedding world!! i got a great price for everything but DJ! so that has been great! other than that i am just cutting corners here and there. not getting huge flowers, my dress is pretty cheap too! I am having a daytime wedding so i dont need the extra expense of candles and DJ lighting, I made my own STD magnets instead of ordering them. I also got my favors on Ebay! Thats all i can think of for now lol

Its so hard to start saving because of so many other expenses, plus everytime i start saving a lot we end up spending it on vendors deposits and stuff, but we really need to start getting better at saving.

It was one of the first things he did for the wedding. He was pretty excited.
It helps to see how much we have paid and how much we have left to go. We are ahead of the game and it feels great! We just can't slack on payments!!

i got a second job so all the money i make there go straight to saving for the wedding .... i also only get paid once a month so i pay bills and everything left over is suppose to go in savings ... we use FH check for everyday liviing but i am also suppose take out protion and put that in savings ... now this is waht i am suppose to do but do i do that not all the time cause something always comes up that we have to spen money on

We have a joint account and I have the bank automatically tacking out $$ each week and putting it in the acccount. I don't even notice that it is missing. We use most of my fiance money for spending but then again I still pay for a good portion of things , I don't think he realizes that I'm putting away alot of money. He also gets an expense check each month from his company and now I take that no questions ask... I see the mail and see the check and I make his sign it and hand it over. Sounds mean put it has to be done.
