We put a couple hundred dollars away every paycheck. We keep track of the payments in an excel sheet that tells us how much more money we have to save and how much we have in our savings account.
FH made a very intense excel sheet. All the cells are linked to each other. When you put in your wedding payment in the payment column it updates it in about 5 different places.
can you send me a copy so i can use it its a great idea!!!

Re: How is everyone saving
aside from putting in everything we can per paycheck, FH is selling his motorcycle AND we are selling one of our cars. We stopped eating out and travelling so much (boo!) and I bring in lunch and do what i can to save here and there.

HSBC has an online only savings account that earns more than ING - they are able to do that because since its online only. there is no overhead

Re: How is everyone saving
Actually its kinda funny for me... I started saving money for our wedding on our one year dating anniversary... Which was almost 2 years before we got engaged!!! I wasn't able to put away much because my paychecks barely paid my bills but I put away any extra money I got.

Its kind of silly but not...you deposit the money into your checking account/savings w/ever....then you transfer into the ING...pretty silly.
But after a while you forget about the money....and don't spend it. I do a automatic transfer of 100 a paycheck and I havent checked it in over a year...and I have saved alot!

Re: How is everyone saving
FH and I each put $500 from every paycheck directly into savings accounts. We also put any gift money/extra money in. I still live with my parents and pay a small rent and FH takes care of his mom's house (his mom is remarried and lives elsewhere with her new husband). I also put money into a 403b for retirement. At this point we have more than enough to pay for the wedding/honeymoon in full.

I was thinking the same thing. Would you mind emailing it to me too? I created an excel sheet tracking payments and budget costs of the wedding. But yours sounds so extensive!

We're not going to eat every meal out anymore, You wouldn't belive how much $$ we've spent in the 4 years we live together, eating every meal out, including breakfeast.. I'm also not shopping out of bordom or for pleasure. I'm holding off on getting a new car... Gonna ride Maxi til she dies!

Re: How is everyone saving
I've had a bank of america risk free cd (4.5%) for a while now. But, they have a new promotion for their high yield cd 5.1% so I just opened one of those too. That's for our house savings though.
My wedding savings is in a regular savings account. I should really open a separate CD for that. I am just too lazy
