How is everyone saving

Re: How is everyone saving

I also have an ING account. I save $1000 a month in there. Fh saves less often but bigger chunks of cash.

FH sold his boat and we are both driving our cars until they no longer start LOL

canceled all our vacations - joined netflix so we havent been to the movies in YEARS - no more eating out except for special occasions -smaller gifts or NO gifts and just going out to celebrate -spending A LOT less on gifts for friends and family

Also - when we have to pay something NOW - FH will pay it out of pocket NOT out of savings - our savings account is OFF LIMITS until one month before hte wedding - so all the deposits, and hall payments are not included in those savings!

at this point I would be able to pay off IN FULL:
my hall
my HM
my photographer/videographer
florist

HSBC has an online only savings account that earns more than ING - they are able to do that because since its online only. there is no overhead

Yeah but the interst rate HSBC offers is only good for this year. You could always use them for the year and transfer to ING that is what I plan on doing.

Whatever extra money comes in like our tax checks, birthday money, engagement money I put into our wedding account and then I am taking money out of our checks and putting it into our wedding account.

This is pretty much what FH and I are doing as well. I also save a bit of each paycheck and since I get paid every two weeks there are a few months in which I get an 'extra' check that I just don't spend and put away.

FH and I opened an account and we deposit any gifts and take money from our paychecks. I actually now take all my overtime and save it for one big check in november so that way i dont take it out and spend it....i try to make my lunch so i dont spend the money at work, it does help!!

The best thing to do it to put a couple-few thousand dollars into your savings each month. FH and I now have joint accounts so it's so much easier to do this together. Try it out!

whatever extra money that comes our way we put towards it which is hard because where still in college and X-mas being not to far away doesn't help either....

Re: How is everyone saving

it's impossible for us to save money because everything we make goes towards the mortgage. And we have unexpected expenses here and there like repairs to the house and vet visits for the dogs. We have cancelled our membership to the gym, and will soon cancel XM radio. Both our xmas bonus and tax return will go towards the weddng. And instead of xmas gifts from family members we asked for money.

Re: How is everyone saving

I have having a hard time saving
I won't lie to you guys.

I started an ING direct account as soon as we got engaged, but because of our debts, all I can put in is $100 a month! FH is strapped between his car payments and the ring being paid off. Basically we need money for the honeymoon. All of our vendors and the hall are being taken care of by our folks. I know we're lucky. We had a $20K budget. I'm paying for hair/makeup, gifts for my girls, invites, favors, etc. all that stuff. No clue where I'm getting the funds. Credit card and pay it off with gifts???

PS I only have $400 saved in my IGN account!

Re: How is everyone saving

I have an ING account too - FH got me hooked on that a few years ago when they first opened. It's great -- I make so much more interest than I used to.

They also opened up an ING checking account and I'm thinking about switching over (or keeping my Bank of America one for a short time) but you make like 3-4% interest on the checking account too! I make 0% on my BOA one, so it's a big difference, especially if i keep a few thousand in there!

ING is the best and I highly recommend it to any of you. Plus, you can get a $25 sign-up bonus if you are referred by a current member and start an account with at least $250. I think existing members get a $10 bonus for referring you.

I THINK EVERYONE SHOULD OPEN AN ING ACCOUNT!!! LIW members should refer eachother so we can all get free money! I'd be happy to refer anyone who wants, and I'm sure so would the other ING-members.

Re: How is everyone saving

yeah i replied earlier.. but its tough...

i have my personal savings... but i also have my personal debt... 45K from school.

Fh has his car and other CC to pay off... im trying to help him now with some.. so we REALLY have to work on the 45K after the wedding...

we also dont want to take a large % of the wedding $ for the school debt... we are thinking about investing it, how we have yet to figure it out.

im scared.. really i am. i kno things will work out.. but im just scared now
