How is your Fh different from the guy you thought you'd marry?
Original post by marymoon
When I was a kid, I thought I'd end up with a guy named Sal or Vito who was a mechanic or a cop, fireman, etc. Little did I know, it would be a Jewish guy who does computer programming. hehe

I always envisioned myself with a very very tall (i'm tall) dark haired light eyed Writer or Artist of some type...All my other boyfriends before FH completely fit into that category, and I ended up with a shorter (shorter than me when I'm in heels) light brown hair, pale, and light brown eyed investment banker... I made him discover his creative side, he always says that to me... awwww...

I thought I'd marry someone with a bit more hair than FH, but I wouldn't trade him for anything.

I think I got what I was looking for...Tall, Dark, Italian man in good shape and took care of me and loved me like noone else. If anything....I feel I got more than I expected!

My grandmother was a doctor, my mother was a doctor and my brother wanted to be a doctor (and is one now). I never wanted to be a doctor but always joked I'd just marry one!
So, now I am marrying a doctor.

Deb, first off that is the sweetest thing ever!!! just had to say that.
anyway i never really thought who i would marry. just figured i would some day, just thought he would be very very tall , but i went to a psychic about 6 yrs ago who predicted dark hair light eyes would be my husband, well i never dated anyone like that, and at the time didnt know anyone fitting that descrpition, well FH has dark hair and big blue eyes, so i guess she was right in was in the cards. only he isnt very very tall. oh well :)

I thought i'd marry a 6'4', blond, blue eyed, bodybuilder named Hanz...and I got shorter than me, sexy, jewish boy, with a hairy chest and fingers of a computer programmer. :)
that's so cute!!!
i'm from TX and thought i'd marry some guy with a twang, wranglers and a BIG truck. instead i got a NJ italian stud who i adore! but sometimes i have to say things twice-he doesn't understand my twang~! i'm sure he never pictured marrying a southerner, but here we are! night and day and loving it.

Besides the fact that I always thought I would NEVER get married until I met him? Well, I guess he's different than nothing, so that's my answer

After attending a highschool with TOO MANY vinnys, vitos, and sals...I swore off all of them!
lol..
Definitely agree with this statement!!!!!! I went thru that phase and never looked back
I am just your average Italian girl. Always thought that in the end if I even bothered to GET married (I truly doubted that once I hit 30) I would wind up with a working class, Italian guy... probably someone in construction, or some trade such as an electrician, plumber.. you konw, a 'hands on' type of guy. I instead wound up with my gorgeous Greek hubby, who works as a graphics/program manager and does servicing for a mortgage co. He is a computer geek, but a 'hot' computer geek
Quite ironically.. after dating far to many crazy Italian women, my husband had SWORN OFF ever dating an Italian woman ever again! But he didn't swear off marrying one
Every single day I truly believe he is so much better than I could ever deserve Funny how life works out, eh?

I didn't have much time to think about my 'ideal' husband, b/c I fell in love w/ FH when when I was 17! But I have to admit, I thought I'd have the kind of life where hubby would wake up, walk out the door of our upper-west side appt and hop on the subway to wall st. I would arise at my leisure, throw on one of my 1000 suits and head to MY, yes, my OWN law firm. No kids, no pets, lots of money and vacations often.
Where am I now? I'm marrying an incredibly sweet, wonderfully patient FOURTH GRADE TEACHER, cuddling our dog as I type, and thinking about the names we've already picked out for our future children. Funny how someone's love can make you feel like you deserve more than you've ever imagined for yourself...

sounds great guys! I think it's so funny how a lot fo us ende dup with opposite, the oppsing sides being irish/italian working class vs. jewish white collar..LOL...look at those stereotypes! it's funny though I've never actually even dated an italian guy although when I was little I was sure I'd marry one. Oh well...

I always figured I'd marry 'a nice Jewish boy'. Who did I marry? A nice Jewish boy! I always thought I would marry someone a little taller, but other than that, he's not all that differen from what I pictured as a teenager!
