how long were you engaged before you booked your hall? and how long was it from the time you 1st visited the hall where you booked and when you actually went back to book it? (hope that question makes sense! lol)
and what's the deal with halls holding dates? they need a deposit to hold a date? i don't remember what the guy said...

We worked fast. We were engaged feb 28 and I think we booked around march 17 ish. So like 3 weeks. They will hold your date for a short time usually for you to think it over. Our hall held with no deposit for a few days I think but we called the next day and booked

Hi. I am new here also, so welcome!!!
We were engaged on Christmas and we just started looking for hall. Hopefully we will book this weekend.
I was told they will not hold without a deposit, but will do a 'courtesy' and pencil in our name and call us if someone wanted the date we did.
I guess that meant we would have to make a decision right then and there what we wanted to do.

We booked pretty fast. We were engaged on 12/13/08 and we booked our hall on 1/22/09. We booked after we went to a bridal showcase there. I def recommend looking a lot of places! I really wish I did that, because I felt like this was all we could afford but after finding this site that wasn't really the case.

We were engaged May 9, started looking at halls about two weeks later and we were booked by Memorial Day. It was less than a week between the time we saw the hall and we booked it.

We got engaged April 2007, only then did we realize what a wedding costs. We didn't start looking at halls until Summer of 2008, we booked October 2008.

6 months? We got engaged the day before Thanksgiving so we decided to wait until the New Year to even start on the wedding planning biz. We went to contract on one hall but they were being kinda shady so we wound up booking our hall about a year out from the wedding date.

Engaged 12/24/08 booked hall 1/3/09 Booked a day after seeing the hall because we knew all along and only visited one hall. We verballed booked a date and needed to leave a deposit within 5 days of the verbal booking.

We got engaged 12/01/08 and first visited our hall on 01/03/09. It was the first hall we visited and we fell in love immediately but I was nervous about booking on the spot without seeing anything else so he agreed to hold the date with a $500 deposit. He gave us one week - until the 10th - and he said we can come pick up our check if we decided that it wasn't for us, but if we did want to book, then to come back with another $500 and we'd work out more details. We checked out just two other halls and I knew that I didn't want to look anymore, so we actually booked on January 10th.

We were engaged Dec 19 and booked the hall first week of January. (Would have been quicker but the holidays got in my way)
We met with Giorgio's and booked them like the next day.
Didn't have the holding date problem bc we booked so quick.

my fiance and i got engaged on december 24, 2008 and booked our hall on july 14, 2010.
we had a really long engagement, but i wouldn't have it any other way. i wanted to enjoy being engaged before the stress of planning a wedding kicked in.

engaged 1/5/08 booked 4/2009 we went to a bridal show there and I loved it...told her I wanted to book but didnt have money for a deposit....she penciled our names in on the date we chose and we went back two days later with a deposit

I think we were engaged like 3 months before we booked, and yes you need a deposit to save a date, i went to a showcase there and then I went back like a month later after I checked out all the halls I wanted to see and decided on that one, I went back.
