How long after the wedding do thank-yous have to be out?

How long after the wedding do thank-yous have to be out?

I still don't have the pictures, yet. But, that's no big deal because all I have to do is pick one and order it.

And, I just received my cards, so now I have to write out 108 thank yous...

What does etiquette say with regard to the time frame? Also, what's a 'normal' time frame for receiving a thank-you after the wedding?

I think the etiquette is actually one year b/c people have one year to give you a gift.

Some weddings I have gotten them like 3 or 4 months after, some between 6 and close to a year.

Three months from when you receive the gift, or three months after the wedding.

I think you're right about be able to give a gift up to 1 year, but not sure about sending out the thank you's. I would say a few months.

Oh well, here I am over 3 months married and I just picked and ordered my Thank You picture last night! Factor in I have to write about 180 Thank you's and that leaves me thinking, 'So much for etiquette!'

I heard a year but we're writing them on the HM and mailing them as soon as we get back I don't want to be bothered any longer than that...too many other things to do after the wedding

This what I have always heard. The one year time frame is for the wedding gift (which I think is pretty silly - why is it ok to send a gift one year later?).

Personally, I don't start to wonder about the thank yous until about the 5 month mark but have received them as long as 8 months after the wedding.

My sister once got one about 20 months after the wedding - at that point I thought it took guts.

If you have the cards, I would start writing them out and addressing the envelopes so they can be sent out when you get the thank you pictures.
