How long after you got engaged did you book your reception site?

I got engaged on May 11th and, while I have been doing a lot of research, I dont plan to book for another month or two....is that bad? I'm planning to get married in September or October of 2006.

I didn't get the place for 4 months. there is no rush.

i waited a few weeks. But I wanted to get married in summer of 05, I was limited to only two weeks because I teach summer school, and I got engaged at the end of july

2 days. we got engaged on a saturday and booked the hall monday.

we didnt have to look around or anything though b/c we knew exactly where we wnted to have it, and we also didnt care about a specific date, so that flexibility allowed us to take care of it right away

we got engaged 4/03. since knew my sister was getting married on '04, we wanted our own yr if that makes sense. it would give us enough time to save money. we booked the hall 8/04
