How long after you are married will you and you fh have kids? Have the two of you talked about it yet? My fh and I talked about it and he thinks he wants to wait to have kids (like maybe 8 years). He wants to travel and do things while we are still young. I want to travel and do things too but I don't want to wait 8 years to have kids. I can see waiting maybe at most two or three years but not 8 years after you are married. I am 27 years old. I want a family. I want two or three kids. He wants no more then two. We have had this talk before and he said to me he wants to have a family with me he just never told me he wanted to wait such a long time to have a family. I am a little upset about it but what can I do. He never did say he didn't want kids he just said he wants to wait to have kids. He would make such a great father so I have no idea what he is so worried about if that is what it is.My fh is great with kids and he has such a big heart. I love him with all my heart and I want to have a family with him. I have always wanted to have a family and be a Mom. I just don't want to wait to long and I loose that chance.

looking for a honeymoon baby ...we will start soon. I figure I see so many people who wish they didn't wait to have children because you never know..

I'm getting chills of excitement reading this, girls!!! I want a little boy that looks just like FH and then I can hold him and love him and kiss him! hahahaha - I'm not weird, I promise. I just think FH is so cute and our baby will be even cuter! We're only going to be 25 and 26 at teh wedding, and will probably wait 4-5 years.

My FH is 34 and I am 27 so we don't want to wait too long. We are getting married in April and are going to start trying the following August. I want to get tenure first.

Wow...I'm feeling like a bit of a loner!! All you ladies are so sure!! We're not even sure if we want to have children...I have issues with being a mommy...sometimes I feel like I'm too selfish to be a mom...I feel that when you have a child, you have to be ALLLLL in and want to give everything to your child...I just don't know if I'm ready for that. I didn't have that great of a childhood and sometimes I wonder if I would even be a good mom...it scares the crap out of me!! FH is AOK with that...he's so good with me!! I know that deep down he probably wants children (he comes from a really great family)...and I KNOW FMIL definitely wants grand children...but they're all aware of the way I feel...so I guess only time will tell!!
Don't let your FMIL to pressure you to have children. Just enjoy your time as a married couple and who knows.......you might just want to have a little baby someday!

Well we already have a 4 yr old. FH has BEEN ready. I'm actually the hold out in this situation. I'm still trying to get my sanity back from our son and just when i think i have succeeded, my ANGEL (devil ) strikes again
But seriously, we want to start tyring in about July or August. That's if we make it that far. I think FH is aiming for a HM baby. I have to make sure i lock it up like FORT KNOX

We want to get pregnant a year after our wedding.. On our wedding day, I will be 30, and FH will be 34. So we want to get Pregnant before I'm 32!! But we both said if it happened earlier it would be a blessing We would like to sell our apartments (we each own) and buy a nice house in Merrick before the babies arrive though.

We are probably going to wait about a year and a half before we start trying...I am still working on my PhD and I want to be ready to write my thesis before I get pregnant.

HM baby all the way! The plan is to go off the pill in April to get the body read for the November honeymoon. We're both MUCH older than the average first time bride and groom (I feel like a grandma sometimes poking around on this board), time's a-wastin'! If we don't have a HM baby, I'm afraid all my eggs are going to dry up!!!!
The only reason we're even having this long of an engagement is that FH really wanted a big wedding and since we're also buying a house, we needed some extra time for budgeting purposes.

Haha, that's not weird, I want the same exact thing! I don't care if I have a boy or a girl as long as they're healthy, but deep down I think I want a boy first. I always wanted a brother, and all I got was a sister! So I definitely want a son that looks like FH with adorable little cheekies, but with my height genes haha. If I have daughters, I'd like them to have an older brother to look out for them.
We'll probably wait a year or so. We're not going to prevent anything once we're married, so we'll let nature take its course. We're going on our HM 6-7 months after the wedding, so ideally I'd like to wait to get pregnant until after the HM, but if it happens prior, it happens prior!
It was funny, I was at my endocrinologist the other day for my checkup (minor thyroid nodule issues), and the prognosis was good so he told me instead of coming back once a year, i can now come in once every two years, unless I get pregnant, in which case I have to come in in my first trimester. So when I told FH that, I said that I'd probably go in in October 2010 for 2 years, and he was like well that may be your first trimester as well! So that was reassuring at least to hear him say that, so we're completely on the same page that it's feasible to be pregnant by then if that's what's in nature's plan for us.
