Well im getting married next may, so its about year and 2 months, people have been telling me to start looking at the year mark, other people tell me to wait like 8-10 months before the wedding. I'm not sure how long until i should really start looking, i want time so im not rushed at the end.

Re: How long before you look for a dress?
I started looking for a dress as soon as I booked my church and reception (a year before my wedding date). The sooner you start looking, the better. That way, you can try on a lot of different styles and see what you like or don't like. Plus, you might not find your dream dress at the first store you go to (or the second....or the third....lol) so give yourself time to go to different stores.
Good luck with your search and don't forget to show us pictures of the dress you finally choose!!

Re: How long before you look for a dress?
I'm getting married the week before you, and my mom and sister and I are going tomorrow!! I feel like it's going to take time to find a dress, so I wanted to start early.

Re: How long before you look for a dress?
I would do it at least 9-10 months before. Personally, I did it the same month I got engaged- I got engaged 3-11-05 and got married 7-7-06 and the dress was order the month I got engaged [March 2005] !

yes i bought it from kleinfelds...AHHHH i completely forgot to do the whole giving them an earlier wedding date lol...Ok well i have 14 months so i wont worry, well not now at least...Thank you
Don't you Love Kleinfelds!!
You still have plenty of time so you don't need to lie about the date. You can't start the fitting till 6 to 8 weeks b4 the wedding. They don't allow too much sooner. Who made the dress?
OMG I absolutely loved them...i had heard some bad stories, but honestly they were the nicest people ever...Never asked for a price range, she went out of her way to help me withthings, and the funny part is i wanted a dress that was more expensive but they convinced me to try on another one(the one i have) bc they thought the other was too big for me, and they were like plus its less so why not save money too...they were amazing, even stayed open after closing hours so i can finish...Ok im done with my kleinfelds rave lol
Its by Kenneth Pool
I am a klienfelds bride too, I had a great experience with them, and same thing, I heard many bad stories before and yes, they did ask me about price range but they explained to me it is better that way so they wont show me something too expensive . (the sales lady was jokking if I felt in love with a very expensive dress, then should I buy it or not which I agree with her)I went there twice and 2 different ladies helped me out and both of them were very nice. They told me I could stay as long as I want until I found the one I want and dont worry about the 1 hr appointment.

You can start lookiing now, who knows it may take you awhile to find what you love. At least if you start looking earlier you can get a feel of what you like and dont like about dresses so you can find the perfect dress

Re: How long before you look for a dress?
I think its fine to start looking now... i'm getting married in August of 08 and already bought my dress! Mine's going to take almost 10 months to come in too...so that will give more than enough time for fittings and such! I would suggest going earlier just incase your designer requires a long time to make the dress! It's never too early to start looking!

Re: How long before you look for a dress?
I started looking 15 months before, I ordered 13 months before and my dress came in 6 months before. I would start looking when ever you feel you are ready to buy, if you find it a year before go for it, better to be safe then sorry
