How long can/should you wait?

How long can/should you wait?

To buy BM gifts.....

I need advice because I am not really sure what to do.As some as you might know, my best friend disclosed that she was pregnant with TWINS. It toatally wasn't planned at all and she is due less than a month before the wedding. Chances are that she won't make it to the wedding. She tells me that she is going to do whatever she can t make it but I know it won't be easy. She's from out of state and most likely will have to travel in excess of 4 hours depending on traffic. That combined with the fact that twins frequently come early has me thinking

She hasn't really helped with the wedding so far at all (according to my sister) so I'm not sure if I should just wait for the last minute to get a gift or not.

i think it will entirely depend on what you intend to get for the girls....

If it's something you CAN wait on - then go for it & wait it out!

I found something I really like for her on Overstock but part of me doesn't want to spend the money if she's not going to be at the wedding.

Originally I was going to get everyone the same thing but I ended up changing my mind.

I guess it would be ok to wait a litle while longer to see what happens.

Re: How long can/should you wait?

my best friend most likely won't be at my wedding. she lives out of state and due to medical reasons probobly won't be able to attend...
however, she's my best friend, and as important to me as anyone who has been helping with the wedding, she might not be getting the same gift as my bridesmaids, but she's getting something.

if you want to get her something, great, get it whenever you want, it won't matter if she comes to the wedding, b/c from my POV at least, the gifts are a thank you for being important and helpful in our lives for more than just the wedding day. you know? i don't think it's a waste of money.

however, if you don't want to get her a gift, then don't get her one. it really doesn't matter how long you wait to buy it.

my girls are done. we haven't even looked for the gifts for the boys yet.

That really helps, You definetely have a point. My original debate was should I/shouldn't I get a gift. She may not be helping with the wedding but she's really been such a great support for me in this stressful time. Even if I don't get her the same thing, i feel like I should get something non-baby related.

3 out of 6 of my BMs live out of state. I won't start getting stuff until the summer. Besides, I have nowhere to put the stuff now!

I have been buying for a year now IoI I got them stuff as things came up. I would say deff. purchase a month before this way you have it ready for the rehersal dinner or give it to them earlier then that (which I may do).

I got them a tote bag ($12) personalized, custom earrings which they may not dig but I hope they do and put them on for the wedding, ($20), their shawl ($20). If they paid for my shower I would give them more but they didn't so this is pretty good.

My man of honor I am doing $80-$100 (depends how much I have) gift certificate to B&H Photo in the city so he can get some camera equipment. He and one bm are paying and attending for the bach party so he is getting more due to that and the bm that is attending my bach party I am giving her a bracelet for doing that.

Parents - purchased but they do not care for their gift which annoyed me. So that I have to return spent $85 but I may buy them a more expensive model to see if they like that one so that will be $100.
