I'm looking at all you girls' confirmed Wedding dates and suddenly feeling very VERY behind schedule...I've been told that I should be fine if i book by early 2010, however I'm feeling REALLY worried...How long did it take you girls to actually book a place? Just wanna know what I'm in for....

we haven't booked ours yet. but my date is a little off. we are 5/20/11 - you will be fine if you booke early 2010. :) no worries! I did the same thing though! I stressed over it constantly that we were running out of time! lol you will be okay!!!

I booked mine the weekend after this past Columbus Day (October 2009) - my original date was already booked this past June for a May 2011 wedding!!
Every place is different - but coming from experience places are booking up fast.
Narrow your places down to a handful and make your first vists in one weekend. We went to 4 places over Columbus Day weekend and we ended up booking with the last place even though my original date was already taken. We just made it a day earlier b/c we loved it so much.

That's exactly how I feel!! It's hard because my FH is in the Coast Guard and currently stationed in Boston. He comes back and forth so when he is here, we always seemingly have so much to pack into a small amount of time!!......and he's leaving on December 23rd and won't be back until mid February!!!! Yikes!!!!!

It only took us about 3 weeks, but we went on a LOT of appointments in those 3 weeks.
Benefit to booking soon: you can book 2010 prices before they change to 2011 prices... a lot of places hadn't updated their price lists yet when we went in Sept.
BUT you don't want to do that unless you found the place you love. You're not behind, espcially if you're open to a few different dates and not set on one particular day. You'll be fine. GL!

Don't worry...my FH and I did it in literally a week. We saw 7 RH's and decided on signing since we are only in NY 2x a year. It was a little crazy but do-able. I'd say you could definitely wait till after the holidays and then start looking. I'm sure you'll find something quicker than you think.

I agree. We looked at RHs back-to-back and narrowed them down to which place gave us the most...and which one made us feel the best.
Don't feel rushed...you'll find your RH in no time and don't feel rushed...

omg when i first joined this site, i started freaking out bc i felt like everyone had it all together for dates that are almost 2 years ahead of time. I felt that if we didn't book soon, we were going to be in trouble and that's not the case at all. I went to 8 halls and none of them even brought up the possibility of the dates we were looking at not being available (but I'm not sure if that's bc we were really flexible with our date). Relax and have fun and don't settle til you find 'the one'. We def got that feeling when we walked into our hall and then I couldn't stop thinking about it after we saw it, so you'll know when you find the right hall.
We started looking in the beginning of July and booked over labor day weekend (two months between first appointment and deciding and booking our hall). We don't live on LI though, so if we did, maybe we would have booked more quickly.

2010 bride crashing
we started looking in jan of this year. looked at shiit load of places too. booked our date feb 14th
we wanted 4/24/2010 it was available when we first looked at our hall but nooooooooo groomzilla wanted to see if another hall could do better in price. by the time we wanted to leave a dep and book 4/24 was taken

We got engaged Christmas Day '08 & booked the second week of January '09. We looked at a few places but just knew we agreed on the one we chose & everthing else fell into place

FH and I booked our hall about 4-6 weeks after getting engaged. I had started looking online before we were engaged so I had an idea of some places I wanted to see in person. Once we got engaged we started looking at places right away and then made a decision a few weeks later!

engaged on christmas 2008 booked our hall in March 2009 we did our church first to get our date then registered at BBB and then we booked the hall we only looked at 5 venues and booked the 2nd we saw.

10er crashing...
We got engaged in May 2009 and started looking right after - we looked at about 15 halls in a little over a week (exhausting!) but we were nervous b/c we knew we wanted summer 2010 and a lot of the places we were looking at had limited dates available. It was certainly exhausting to look at all those halls in such a short period but in the end I'm glad we did b/c we found the right place and the right date.
But I would say if you're looking for late 2011, you still have plenty of time.

we went to at least 12 halls.... we booked with the last hall we saw... and it took about 1 to 2 months to find. That's with going to 3 or 4 halls on Sat and Sun too. We were busy campers. Engaged Dec 2007... booked hall Feb (late feb I think) 2008... wedding was... haha well .... you know!! Nov 2009!!

lets see we got engaged 1-1-09....we looked at 7 halls (a few weeks after) and booked on superbowl sunday...
then we changed halls....we looked at another 6 or so...contacted so many over the phone too!
