How long did you know him?

I dated him for 2.5 years, knew him for 2.6 years total. =)

Some of my late 20's friends are beginning to pressure their bfs for a ring after only a few months!

9 MONTHS 3 weeks

My parents (who will be married 35 years this year) got married after KNOWING each other for five months!

I think I may have the shortest time...
We met 7/7/05
Engaged on 12/3/05
So basically just shy of FIVE months. Ican't explain it, it was just one of those things.... we just KNEW. i knew on the 3rd date.

We won't even be together 2 years when we get married, but I know we'll be together for many, many more so it's all good!

Yeah, that is soon. But....my parents were married five months after they met, they got engaged eight weeks after they met.

Four years and four days! And we knew each other for about a year before we started dating.

Just over 6 years. We didn't want a long engagement (under a year and a half) and we want a house, so we waited. WELL worth it!

4 1/2 years before he proposed and we just celebrated our 5th anniversary two weeks ago

FH and I met online and knew very early on (before we met) that each other was THE ONE. We met in October 2004, moved in together in May 2005, and got engaged in November 2005. The proposal would have come sooner if he wasn't so picky about the diamond...he drove the poor jeweler crazy! So we were engaged after 1 year, 1month and will be married 2 years, 1 month of knowing each other.

Dated for 3.5 yeas, but knew him for 9 years!!! I think waiting longer for the ring is better. I know so many people who got engaged after only 1.5 years & they are all divorced now.

For some people I would agree...but sometimes you just know!

Dated for a year . . .
Engaged for a year . . .
And now . . . we are married for (almost) a year.

Didn't plan it that way. It just happened. But I wouldn't have it any other way
