We got engaged on our vacation and started going to places about a week later. Good thing because a lot of the places were booking up quickly. Each place we looked at had a few days available. Good Luck.

We waited a little over a month, but we will be engaged for 20 months by the time we are married, so we had (still have) lots of time to select vendors, if you are planning on getting married next july, you should probably start looking soon.

we got engaged on christmas eve/day.....booked a place the end of january i think.....we're doing this in 9 months....so we had to move quick. good luck!

We got engaged New Years right after the ball dropped and we booked our hall about 3 weeks later. BUT we only took that long because we went away to Aruba for a week 2 days after we got engaged and I had my friends wedding coming up (that I was a BM) so we didn't have time to take an entire day and look at 5 halls at once.

We waited about 2 months but that was b/c we weren't in the US. I think the sooner you book the better but take your time finding a place. It's important and you shouldnt feel rushed.
