I think we went looking after 2 or 3 weeks-we only looked at 2 places, and when we got to the NRC we booked it on the spot, after the presentation.
Plus it came highly recommended, we knew we wanted a late September-mid October wedding, and there were only 3 Saturday nights left to choose from.
FH was grinning and was like 'LETS DO IT!'

But I should add that for 6 years I worked for a dj company, and fh worked for a party decorations company. Between both of us we have seen practically every RH on Long Island. NRC was one of the few we had never been to.

We started looking within 2-3 weeks after getting engaged. But we are getting married almost 1 year to the day of getting engaged. Most people give themselves more time but we thought why wait?

they were booking up like crazy (and i booked in feb. 2008 for a july 2010 wedding!!)

Thanks for all of your responses! FH and I have been engaged for almost 2 weeks now. We would like to get married in either July or August 2010...we need to start planning!!

started looking about two months after we got engaged (Oct 07) and then booked in Feb 08

We got engaged in 4/08, but we originally planned on a 4/10 wedding (on our anniversary). Once August rolled around, though, we decided we didn't feel like waiting and booked our RH then.

If you're looking to do next summer, I would highly suggest getting started now! GL!

We actually booked before we got engaged! We started looking to get ideas, fell in love with our place, and they only had a few saturday nights left in spring 2010 (even though we started looking in Sept. 08!), so we went for it!

I got engaged in March and started looking in April. I guess it all depends on when you want to get married. I wanted to get married in a summer month - so I knew that it would be difficult getting a date in the summer.

We got engaged a few days before Christmas, and started looking at RH's in the end of March/beginning of April. We booked right at the end of April for June, 2010.

I wanted to enjoy being engaged before going nuts with the wedding planning.

I would advise you though that you should at least grab a copy of the Weddings Sites and Services magazine (they have it at Barnes & Noble) and start narrowing down the ones you and FH want to check out since you're looking at booking dates that are a year away. That alone takes some time!

i think i may be the outcast here. but we got engaged in June 08 and didn't start looking until March 09. We knew we wanted Fall of 2010 so we were sort of just enjoying the moment.
