How long did you wait to tell family and friends?
Just wondering how long everyone waited to tell their good news to their family and friends?

Re: How long did you wait to tell family and friends?
When I found out I was pg (4 weeks) I told everyone I saw... I was so happy. Many people wait till the 2nd trimester begins because the chance of miscarrage goes from like 70% to 30% or something like that but I was too happy to keep it to myself!!!

my girlfriend and her husband decided to wait out the first trimester... as they said - they wanted to enjoy it for themselves. me on the other hand.... i'll probably go behind the desk at the ob/gyn's office & start using their phones - lol

When I am blessed Scott and I will only tell our parents, siblings and super close friends until we are at 8-10 weeks.

Re: How long did you wait to tell family and friends?
LOL! We said we would wait a few weeks to make sure all was OK in the 1st tri but we ended up telling everyone right away. Do you think you can keep a secret like that? I thought so before I had the secret to keep, then we were too thrilled to contain it.Edited to add: I just read some of the other replies and I have to seriously dispute the percentages quoted on miscarriage (if I am understanding the post correctly): 70% chance of miscarriage in the first trimester? Sorry but that is way way off. The figure is more like 15-20% chance. If there was a 70% chance of miscarriage, that obviously means that only 3 in every 10 pregnancies results in a child. Thank God it's untrue. I just had to dispute that info b/c if I didn't know otherwise, that would scare the heck out of me if I was pg or TTC and read that.

Re: How long did you wait to tell family and friends?
We told everyone we talk to on at least a weekly basis (besides work) the same weekend we found out. We waited until about 10-12 weeks to tell extended family. There was no way we could hold in such good news from our closest family and friends! But after a few days, it sunk in that there were risks of miscarriage, so I kind of regretted telling everyone. But so far so good at 15 weeks!

Thanks! We did end up telling our family on Christmas Eve even though I am only 6 weeks along. We could not wait and it was such a wonderful Christmas Present.

When it happens for us I don't know how we would re-act. I would want to hold back until we get passed the first trimester but I don't know if we could. It would be such incredible news.

They say to wait until your 3 months but when it happens to us, I don't think I'll be able to wait to tell
