FH's drive is 40-45 min....longer if there is an accident or weather realted porblems.

When I commute from his house via LIRR it's 1.5 hrs. for me. When I commute from my apt. vi Subway it's 15-20 min.

I'm going to miss my commute.

Traffice down in FL may not be as bad as up here...but FL has gotten more corwded throughout the years and EVERYONE drives down there...so it may be worse. Maybe when you go visit your family he can do the drive during rush hour and gauge if it's something he can do 4-5 days a week.

its about 10 miles (Franklin Sq --> Great Neck). Takes about 30 min. Little less in the summer.

I commute too far.

29 miles one way, I leave at 630am and it takes about 45 minutes. In the summer, only 40 minutes.

going home it takes a minimum of 50 minutes but usually more like an hour to an hour and 15 min.

not fun and it is very mentally draining.

We actually moved for my job. I would have had to take 3 trains that would last at least 2 hours. I can't drive so it's really hard for me to get places on LI. I walk for 4 minutes take a 9 minute train and walk for another 5 minutes. It's fabulous. We just went down the train line that goes to my job and found a town to live in that's walkable. My FH now has a long drive, but he figures that he is lucky enough to have the ability to drive so I should get an easier commute.

mine is an hour with NO traffic usually in the morning its an hour....going home its more 1 1/2 and could be 2hrs

Less than 10 minutes going and coming. FH is the one that has to drive from LI to Manhattan six days a week...I feel so bad for him : ( He can get there in less than 20 minutes in the AM (he's at work before 6am when he works days) and if he's out before 4, it usually takes him about an hour or a little more to get home. If he's out after 4, forget it....he needs a snack to hold him over lol
