Is there a norm for how long ceremony + cocktail hour + reception are?
Was just watching Four Weddings and one of the girls had her ceremony start at 3:00pm and reception end at 12:30am! This is not even close to what we're having! Our whole thing is from 7-12:00am and that feels about right...although I don't know if it's too short?! Ceremony at 7, cocktail 7:30-8:30, reception 8:30-12.

Re: How long is your wedding?
4:30 pm - 1:00 am
Church is 4:30 pm (just a ceremony) Cocktail hour 7:00 -8:00 pm Reception 8:00 pm-12:00 am VH 12:00-1:00 am
Don't let them take that time away from you- they should either give you money off or throw in extra station or something. I would personally want that extra time, so ending at 12:30 on a Saturday should be fine

Re: How long is your wedding?
it usually goes like this:
ceremony in a church = 45 min approx. ceremony in the venue = 30 min. CH = 1 hr Reception = 4 hrs
if u're havng the ceremony in a church the wedding time can be longer, depending if u wanna have pics in between
for example, we're having our ceremony in a church at 4:30pm, then we're going to take pics in old westbury gardens, then go to the venue and the CH starts at 8:30, and the reception at 9:30. we wanted to start at 8:30 cause we're using the outside gardens and we like the way it looks during the night, it has a south beach feeling. so the actual lenght of time for the wedding ultimately depends on u.
