Is there a norm for how long ceremony + cocktail hour + reception are?
Was just watching Four Weddings and one of the girls had her ceremony start at 3:00pm and reception end at 12:30am! This is not even close to what we're having! Our whole thing is from 7-12:00am and that feels about right...although I don't know if it's too short?! Ceremony at 7, cocktail 7:30-8:30, reception 8:30-12.

my ceremony starts at 630 and reception starts at 8 and ends at 1am.

guests will be there at 10:45am for continental breakfast until 5pm

mine is from 3-10pm but heres the breakdown 3-4-church 5-6-CH 6-10-reception......
and if we want an extra hour, we have to pay extra, but i dont think we will need it.....

Based on the halls availability, I think our reception time got cut down by half an hour. Right now it's 3.5 hours. Do you gals think that's enough? It seems like it is but wasn't sure based on how everyone else has it...

Mine is 6:00-12:30 Ceremony- 6:00-6:30 Cocktail- 6:30-8:00 Reception- 8:00-12:30
I feel like I lost on half an hour of our reception - looks like 4 hrs is the norm.

maybe because it is a total of 5 hrs at the RH... I am assuming if it went an additional 30 min it would go in to the 6th hour...
My ceremony is separate from the RH so the total is 5 hours at the RH....

My ceremony is at 2pm. [at church]
cocktail hour is 6pm. reception is at 7pm. VH starts at 11pm. Wedding ends at 12am!

If we add an hour it will end at midnight.
Did you ask why it's only 3 1/2 hours opposed to 4?

We tried to make it start earlier but can't because of a previous wedding that's using the same room for their ceremony, so they need time to fix it up.
I'm going to see them tomorrow and will try to figure out if there's another way. Almost feels like 3.5 hours will be totally rushed and not enough dancing time, etc.
However, is it bad to have it from 8:30-12:30 in terms of guests? It's a Saturday night so maybe that won't be THAT bad?

Personally I would rather have it later than lose any time. I went to a friends wedding a few months ago and it went so quickly for me and I wasn't even in it.

Looks like I need to have a heart to heart w/ the RH tomorrow. Wish me luck!
We may add the VH so the reception would end at 11:30

Yeah it's normally 1hour cocktail, and 4 hours reception. I would talk to them about it. maybe if they can't change it they could reduce your price or throw in an extra station of food.

5:00-5:30 - ceremony at church 5:30-6:15 - receiving line and photos 7:00-8:00 - cocktail hour 8:00-12:00am - reception 12:00-1:00am - viennese hour

It seems short. Dont let them do that to you. 12 12:30? No diff. I wouldnt mind esp on a sat night. Make sure they make it right.
