He popped the question?

FH and I were together for 5 years before we got engaged. A friend of mine has just gotten engaged and they met less than 6 months ago!!! She didn't even know he existed 6 months ago!Just wondering how common this is...

FH and I were together since college so we were younger when we met...we were together offically about 3 1/2 yrs before he proposed,,,,

but my BFF has been seeing this guy only a cple months and they are talking about getting engaged (shes 27) I think sometimes you just know and plus when your a little older you know what you want and if you find it you just jump in!

not a choice on the poll, but between 4 and 5 years. closer to 5

we were only 18 when we met!

1 yr and 4 mos. However, we moved in together after only about 2 weeks of dating. We just knew we found 'the one'.

My parents also were engaged after just 6 months - he actually asked her on their first date! Of course she asked him 'are you crazy?'

Their 40th anniversary is in two weeks

we were in the 2-3 yr mark.

i also think as ppl get older they sometimes date for less and get engaged right away....that's happened in a few situations in our lives.

Just shy of 5 years and when we get married it will be just after 6 years.

Everyone is different and you just have to believe they are doing what is best for them. For some they get the opposite reaction of 'what took so long.' To each their own.

oh and we knew eachother about 4 years when he proposed - we never 'officially' started dating so the summer we met eachother is our point of reference

Same here...we don't have an official date but we met in April of 2000 (didn't immediately start dating, just hung out every so often then progresses) then he proposed to me in April of 2006.
