How long were you and FH together before...

He popped the question?

FH and I were together for 5 years before we got engaged. A friend of mine has just gotten engaged and they met less than 6 months ago!!! She didn't even know he existed 6 months ago!Just wondering how common this is...

i personally think its a little nuts when people get engaged that quickly BUT my FH's parents got engaged after only 6 months of dating and they were married at age 21 - they have a great relationship, are totally in love with eachother and are a great couple - i hope that FH and I are like them when we are their age - so even if they only know eachother for a short time FH's parents are proof that it can work! they've been together almost 40 years!

Exactly 6 months. However, our engagement was a little over 2 years.

oh and we knew eachother about 4 years when he proposed - we never 'officially' started dating so the summer we met eachother is our point of reference

We were together almost 4 years when he proposed and had just moved in together. It probably would have been done much sooner if we had the money. I told him I'd kill him if he went out and bought me a ring while money was tight. 6 months does seem nuts to me but you never know. Hopefully it works out!

we just knew though.

Today's our one year dating anniversary.

His parents were engaged after three months..and were happy for 25 years until his mom passed. My parents were dating for 6 months before they got engaged.

It's different for everyone. I don't think it's fair to judge though.

I think it's more common when you are in you in your 30's, is your friend close to 30 in age?

I completely agree. My parents only dated 6 months before they were married. They planned the wedding in 3 weeks. They will be married 28 years July 12th.

My parents have been married 29 years and are the most in love couple I've ever seen..I still cath them making out in the kitchen!
