FH and I were together for 5 years before we got engaged. A friend of mine has just gotten engaged and they met less than 6 months ago!!! She didn't even know he existed 6 months ago!Just wondering how common this is...

I think it's more common when you are in you in your 30's, is your friend close to 30 in age?
We were both only 25 when he proposed..we're 26 now.
That is awesome that you both just knew, very romantic and not that common. And you're not crazy at all, when you find love, you just know. For me it didn't happen to later in life, but when i met FH we just knew, I moved in with him after being together only 4 months, and everyone thought we were crazy too.

His parents were engaged after three months..and were happy for 25 years until his mom passed. My parents were dating for 6 months before they got engaged.
It's different for everyone. I don't think it's fair to judge though.
I completely agree. My parents only dated 6 months before they were married. They planned the wedding in 3 weeks. They will be married 28 years July 12th.
My parents have been married 29 years and are the most in love couple I've ever seen..I still cath them making out in the kitchen!
Mine aren't like that at all, but they are happy.

It was 10 months for me. I think the older you are sometimes the faster you get engaged. I mean , if you met at 18 , it will probably be a while before you get engaged. But in our case we met when i was 27. i dont know, JMO.

when we got married - we were together for 1 year
you just never know - my parents got married after 6 months ! it was just their 25th anniversary - so you just never know

Everyone's situation is different... My friend is 25 and he is 34. I wish them both the best, I just hope they know what they are doing, that's all.
I know that I, personally, couldn't take such a huge step so soon. There are plenty of people married for life after knowing eachother for a short amount of time, so it really depends on the person.

it was like 3 years and 2 months... We had been dating 4 months in high school when we graduated and he went away to school.. we made it through close to 3 years of him being away at college so we knew if we could make it through that with out cheating/braking up then we would make it through anything.. and here we are... getting married in 3 days!!! we've been engaged 23 months... together 5 years 2 months

Awww i agree! We only knew each other four months when he proposed, but i think we knew after a week that we wanted to marry each other! We've been together almost two years now and we're married!
