I have a question: how many days off of work do you think I should take off before the wedding? I'm getting married on a Saturday, and I was thinking of taking off Thursday & Friday. But now some people are freaking me out saying I need more time? Do I? I know I will have my mani/pedi the day before, but what are the other things I need to do? What has everybody else done/plan on doing? I'd rather take off most of my days for the HM.

i was thinking of the same....i figured thursday is the RD but as long as i am caught up with stuff i think it will be fine

I have my own business, so there are no 'days off' ...with pay anyway!! soooooo I am taking Friday only for my Saturday night wedding. I say, if you have the luxury of paid days off, start taking off on the Wed before your Sat wedding, so you can relax and prepare without panic (unlike me)

Thanks for the responses keep them coming! My RD will be Thursday, because that is when my church rehearsal is. Having, of course, never done this before, I'm just wondering if there are things I need to do those days that I haven't thought of and/or don't know about yet! I've been pretty low key so far, but knowing me, I am sure I will be in full on panic mode that Friday night!

I just made my official request for my time off. I am making Tuesday before the wedding my last day (we are getting married on Saturday and our RD is Friday evening).
I'm taking a total of 12 days off -- Wednesday until two Thursdays after. I will have to go back to work that Friday the day after our honeymoon is over since that will be my last day EVER at my job, since I am moving to NC in August to be with FH.
So much is changing at once!
But to answer your question, I'm giving myself 3 days that week off and think it will be enough.

I got married on a Friday night, and I just took Thursday off.
Our RD was 2 weeks earlier though, so that may play a role.
I figured on the day before I would have pretty much everything done, just need to run around and drop things off at the hotels etc. We also went away for 2 weeks for our honeymoon so we didn't want to push our luck too much at work!!

I was thinking the same thing but then my FSIL was saying I should take the entire week before the wedding off. I'm not sure if I want to do this because I want to take time off for the honeymoon.
I think if you have everything planned and settled then taking off from Wednesday the earliest should be enough time.

i don't want to use all my time off in Jan... (my time doesn't carry over) so im working m-thurs, but only working thurs for a few hours.
I don't feel a bride nescesarily needs so much time...i need time for a mani-pedi and sometime to relax before the big day, thats its

My wedding is on a Sunday afternoon, so I'm maybe taking that Friday off...my company gives us a freebie paid day off to be used right before the wedding or right after (or you can tack it on to your honeymoon, if you're taking one right after the wedding) so I may as well use it!

I am getting married on a Saturday and am taking the Thursday and Friday before off. I MAY take a half day on Wednesday. I know I want time for myself, but I am still a little clueless as to what else I would need to do other than mani/pedi. I want time to just relax and destress I guess.

As of now, I'm taking off 2 days before (Thursday and Friday), however, one of the partners is trying to convince me that I should take Wednesday off too because I'll have a lot to do. I'm the type of person that will make myself crazy if I have too much time off beforehand, so I'm not sure. At the very least, I'll work half a day on Wednesday.
Of course, this may all change as we get closer to the date, and I realize I have a lot more to do than I thought!

I am getting married on 9/12 too but I plan on taking that whole week off before the wedding since 9/7 is labor day. But I may decide to just take wed-fri off. We will see

I took off Wednesday and on. I found it wasn't enough time to really tie up loose ends. But I live in PA and the wedding was in NY, so I needed travel time, time to finish things up here before I left, etc. I would have taken off another day or two if I had known better.

our wedding gets mixed in with the holidays kind of, with it being the day after new years, so I'm taking the week before the wedding off.
I have OOT family coming in and I want to hang out with them as much as possible before the wedding

I am getting married Saturday afternoon. I will probably take Wed-Friday off. We are not having a rehersal dinner. We may have a thank you dinner, but we are having some issues because most of FI's groomsmen live out of town so we are still unsure what to do.

I took off Thursday and Friday and that was PLENTY of time. I was sitting around being bored. If you get your programs, favors, and all other DIY stuff done beforehand, you shouldn't need more than the 2 days IMO

I'm a Friday night bride and I'm taking off Wednesday, Thursday and Friday...Friday will be a half day but obviously I'm not going there day of...lol
