I have a question: how many days off of work do you think I should take off before the wedding? I'm getting married on a Saturday, and I was thinking of taking off Thursday & Friday. But now some people are freaking me out saying I need more time? Do I? I know I will have my mani/pedi the day before, but what are the other things I need to do? What has everybody else done/plan on doing? I'd rather take off most of my days for the HM.

My wedding is on a Friday. I am taking off for the week leading up to the wedding and then 3 weeks after. Also 2 days are holidays so I am tacking them onto the end. So I'm officially using 20 vacation days but my last day of work will be October 30th and I go back to work December 2nd.
then i have 5 other days to take throughout the year.

FH has crazy vaca time at his job so he will be off a total of 3 weeks for the wedding... one of which is the week before. I will be putting the man to work!!! I don't get that much vaca time so I will only be taking off the Thursday and Friday before hand...
Im getting married Sat and im only taking Friday off and then i dont return for 2 weeks. I mean it depends on how much you have to do.

i plan on taking off thurs & fri and my wedding is on sat - i'm hoping that by that time, most everything will be done. if there still a lot to do as the time gets closer though, i'll add an extra day and take wednesday too.

I am also getting married on a Saturday and taking Thursday and Friday off before. If you can think of things that need to get done, then take more time, but if you feel that you have it all under control, I definitely think Thursday and Friday is perfect. Like you said, mani/pedi on Friday, and then what else??? I can't think of much else I'll need to do that is that time consuming. Just little things...

My wedding is on Saturday and I am taking 2 1/2 days off. The Wednesday before I am taking a half a day because I am going to the RH, bring the CP, favors, place cards, and all the extras. I have specific instructions for some of these things so I am expecting on being there a while. I also want to bring last minute items to FH's house Wed nite.

my wedding is on a saturday afternoon, my RD most likely will be on the thursday before, if i am going to hawaii for my HM then i will need at least 2 weeks off afterwards so i will prob just end up taking the friday before the wedding

I took off Friday. You really dont need more time if you have been organized all along. I even had my rehearsal dinner Friday. Dont waste vacation time for days before 1-2 days is plenty for a Sat wedding.

I'm getting married on a Monday (Labor Day) and I'm not taking any days off. Obviously I'll have Saturday and Sunday. All of my friends who have gotten married say you need the day before to bring OOO bags to hotels, get manis/pedis, etc. But if you take too much time off, you'll just be sitting at home thinking...so just stay busy and give yourself 1 or 2 days before. Save your vacation days for the honeymoon!

Thanks everyone! I have a total of 8 days I can take off ( I can probably squeeze in an extra day, either by working o.t .or taking unpaid). I figure I don't want to leave on HM until Monday, we are doing a brunch Sunday morning after the wedding, and can return on Sunday night. If I only take of the Thurs. & Fri. before the wedding, then I can take off the day after the HM, instead of going right back to work the next day! I'm so jealous of you ladies that can take so much time, you are very lucky! If anyone thinks of anyting else I should be doing before the wedding( besides mani/pedi, dropping off favors and such at RH, and things at hotel...(thanks for this, I forgot!) let me know!

Talk tot he RH...i dropped my stuff off there thursday....My RH wanted everything by thursday night cause friday starts to get crazy.
Try to do little things in the evenings during that last week. All I did Friday was mani/pedi and dropped off the grooms cake for the RD. Oh and packed for the hotel (I stayed at a hotel Fri before the wedding)

I think I will take wed thu fri off for a saturday wedding. My job does not REALLY care how many days I take off because of the nature of my work. If we are not busy im not doign too much. And they wont schedule me for a trial since I am getting married.
Then I am taking the next 2 weeks off plus 2 days. So almost 3 weeks in total.

i am really not sure yet. i have to speak with my boss because i don't know how much vacation time i have. ideally for my friday wedding i would like to take off wednesday & thursday. however, i also would like 10 days off after for the honeymoon. so i guess i will see.

I'm getting married on a Sun and only taking Fri off...I don't want to give myself to much time to just sit and think b/c I would probably go nuts!!
I would rather take a few extra days off after we get back from the honeymoon...I think I'll end up taking like 3 weeks...

my wedding is in 2 weeks on a saturday- so i'm taking off wed, thurs, and Fri- i still have to do my favors but i might even do that this weekend... i think its kinda just nice to have off a couple days to relax- go to the beach, sun tan, get a massage and all that stuff....

I was thinking about just taking friday off & my wedding is on saturday! but now i see everyone is taking more days off!
I guess we'll see once it gets closer how much time i need and how much time my boss will give me haaha. Plus i do want a 10 day honeymoon! so i'll need to work with whatever i get !
