I am totally new to the wedding planning...we looked at our first venue last night and have a bunch of appointments for other places and it is completely overwhelming already How many halls did you girls look at before you decided on yours?

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I went to see about 1/2 dozen places. It gets easier (and harder) to chose between them once you have seen a few. I know I had the problem with always loving the last one I saw and coming up with problems or issues with the ones I saw in the past even though I didn't see these issues before. Where did you go and what other appointments do you have?

I went to see Riveira right by my house. I have appointments at Bridgeview, WaterMill,Fox Hollow, Lombardis on the Sound, Villa Lombardis, Woodbury CC, Waterview, Lands End and more. I am trying to enjoy the process, but there are so many places

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I went to see the Inn first, feel completely in love, went to two other places and couldnt stop thinking of the inn so I decided that was it. But my FH and I have been to weddings so many different places it also helped.

Ask people here what they thought of each of those places and ask for price info if people have it. That can help you eliminate some of the choices before going possibly and make it easier. I personally have only met with Lands End. They were really nice but slightly expensive (for the big wedding we are having). I have been to Bat Mitzvah and Bar Mitzvah at Fox Hollow and it was very nice but that was quite a few years ago.

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I did a ton of research on the internet first. To get reviews and ideas of what I should be looking for in a venue. Plus we had gone to 3 weddings at 3 different venues in the last year.... haha so that definitely helped too! We wound up only looking at one other place before we picked our venue!

Re: How many halls did you go see?
We visited 6 and called a bunch of places to get information. We knew we were on a budget, so if we called and the place was way over we didnt even waste our time. That actually helped us A LOT!
Its so overwhelming at first. I remember I wanted to cry. I didnt exactly know what to expect, and than I would get more and more confused with each hall. Try to relax and enjoy it as much as possible!

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I fell in love with the first place I saw but was nervous that if I didn't keep looking I would miss out. So I went to visit about 4 or so more and realized I couldn't see myself anywhere else but the first one.

Re: How many halls did you go see?
Bc I'm crazy with my lists and spreadsheets I got a list of EVERY venue on long island. Took a few off right away, looked online for every single one after that. If the was anything at all I didn't like, they were off the list. I had it narrowed down to about 30. Went to 4 halls only bc when I walked into SC, it was the one!

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I also went to about half a dozen. I went to look at different types like mansions, waterfront, vineyard. Ultimately I went with my instinct which was the first place I felt like I wanted my wedding. It does get incredibly overwhelming... I would come home and just be so upset when one place didn't meet the requirements I was looking for and it would cost too much, etc... I was afraid everything was too expensive, but there's something out there you will looove! There are all different sizes, prices, etc. so take your time and don't stress

Re: How many halls did you go see?
FH told me to look online and write down the ones I liked. I had a list of 11. FH a D.J. so he narrowed it down to the top 4 he liked and we started with that. We saw all 4 but I fell in love with VYC which was the first place we looked.

Re: How many halls did you go see?
We went and saw a few places and when we went to Lombardis on the Bay I turned to FH and said 'THIS IS IT'. I think its a lot like the dress.. when you find it youll know. Now we just need to come up with the $$ to book

Re: How many halls did you go see?
We saw about 14 places before booking. We started off in the Bronx since thats where we live but didnt find exactly what we were looking for. We checked out a cpl of places in Westchester and then came to LI. Once we saw Swan Club I was in love! We had 2 more appts that day after that and we never made it inside. Only drove by. We knew it couldnt compare lol
I must have made about triple the amount of phone calls and emails checking halls for pricing and availabilty. That part wasnt fun but FH and I enjoyed visiting the dif places.

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I had a freakin' schedule that was planned out for us to see 18 places. The first day we went to see 5--Lombardis' on the Sound, Watermill, Smithtown Landing Country Club, Majestic Gardens and Giorgios. Honestly. If I had needed to see the rest of the places after the first five..I would have immediately crossed off anywhere that had had marble or mirrors. That would have narrowed down my choices a lot. I think once you decide what you don't like--you can just start removing places from your potentials list.

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I looked at a lot of places online and made a lot of phone calls/emails. I narrowed it down based on the prices on the places I would actually go see. I saw about 8-10 venues. I loved by venue from what I saw online and really feel in love with it when I went to see it. On the second visit I signed the contract and put down my deposit.

Re: How many halls did you go see?
I did research on the internet and then went to see 6. I could have went to see more, but we loved Floral Terrace and also were tired of driving around.
