How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

Our church is at 4pm and the reception is at 7pm. Everything is pretty close. Maybe thats too much time in between. Oh well, too late now. I'm usually running late anyway.

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

Our church is at 2 p.m. (in Bklyn) and pre-cocktail hour starts at 5:30 p.m. I was thinking that by the time we leave church (after our receiving line and pictures) that is should be around 3:30. That gives everyone 2 hours to get to the reception and for those who do not want to come to pre-cocktail hour, they have 2 1/2 hours. I figured that some people are going to come to church not dressed to come to the reception, so this gives them time to get ready and then leave.

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

my church is at 4pm and the coktail hour starts at 7:30....it's a little more time than i would have liked, but there is about a 30-40 minute drive from the church to the reception...

also, the manager at jericho terrace advised me to be selfish about this - take as much time as i need for pictures b/w the church and reception, so then i could enjoy my wedding...

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

My ceremony in Floral Park is at 10 am, cocktail hour at CB at 12:30 pm. Eek, I hope that's enough time, they are only 15 minutes apart.

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

My church starts at 3pm, and my cocktail hour starts at 7pm. That's the latest the church will do a full Mass, and the earliest Stewart Manor will start....

I think it will work out. The wedding is next September (late in the month), and we want to take pictures before it starts getting dark!!

So yes, be selfish

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

my ceremony is at 2:30 - latest my church can do it - and my cocktail hour begins at 7:00. that is a TON of time in between, but as i see it, pictures will be nice and relaxed with NO time pressure, and the guests will just have to deal with the in-between time. (my parents will be having people at our house in between if guests need a place to go).
you just make do!

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

My church is at 3:30 (no mass, just ceremony) and my cocktail hour starts at 6.

So, we need to move quick to get some daylight pictures in there. Luckily it's before daylight savings time...

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

My ceremony begins at 2:00 I think I may make it a mass. And my cocktail hour begins at 6:30 but the church is literally 10 min away from the hall.

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

My ceremony and mass is at 11am and cocktail hour is at 1pm and there is a 1/2 hour drive between them - so it will be tight, but the church won't let me move the ceremony to 10am b/c they reserve Sat mornings for funerals. And my hall won't let me move the cocktail hour to 1:30pm. So, I have no other choice I guess!

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

My church ceremony is at 5:15. The reception is aobut 5-10 minutes away and cocktail hour starts at 7. Guests can arrive a bit early though from what I've been told. I think it should work out well.

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

Ceremony at 11:30 and Reception starts at 1:00 with about a 45 minute drive from church! Ouch...tight so we are just doing a ceremony, not a mass.

Re: How many hours between the ceremony & reception?

Our ceremony is at 3pm (lasts about 30-45mins) and the cocktail hour starts at 6pm. But since our wedding is the only one at our reception site, our guests can show up as early as 4:30 for champagne and strawberries in the garden room.
