How many of you...

How many of you...

were planning before the engagement? I am and I find it odd at times... FH is really into it and so I cant say 'Lets wait till I have the ring on the finger' (because I had already but thats a long story)

But, was/is anyone else REALLY beginning to plan before engagement? I feel like it will make things easier once it comes...

I know I started by looking at what I wanted and what I didnt want. From time to time I would ask FH for his input too. I know plenty of people who book things even before the ring is on their finger!

before me and fh became offically engaged with the ring we talked about it a lot. we discussed when we would want to have it, and we narrowed down the rhs to ones that we wanted to look at. we also wrote out a guest list so that we would know how many people we were looking at.. but we didnt go to any places or book anything till after we were engaged. but the discussing beforehand really helped because we knew we wanted the same thing and we got a bunch of ideas from this site, as well as quotes. i thought it was a big help to research and get prices so you know what to expect!

We talked about getting married and my FH said he loved the East Wind and wanted to get married there (over a year before there was a ring on my finger). But, we didn't do anything until we were officially engaged. Heck, we barely have done anything since. We booked the hall - that's it.

i secretly was planning things here n there... getti a feel for what i liked/didnt like.... made sure to save a bunch fo websites... Funny thing is that... everything I wanted completely changed from what I liked at around 1 yr ago... This makes me a bit nervous!!!!

We both talked about things we wanted and didn't want before we got engaged. We had our guest list probably 80% done and alot of other things too. After we got engaged it was more of a matter of just finding the right vendors. We even knew where we wanted to have our reception - but we ended picking someplace else because we were disappointed in the end with our original choice.

I couldn't agree more. I thought I had everything picked and now the more searching I do, I find all these NEW things I like better.

I really did...had an account on various wedding websites with picture of all my favorite things picked out. I always wanted to be a wedding planner...if the teaching thing didn;t work out.

For people who are indecisive like me, planning ahead of time really helps eliminate some of the stress because when it came to the engagement I had a clear idea of what I did want...I just had to double check it with FH

There are still a lot of decisions to make though...no matter how far in advance you plan.

I did alot of my planning but, thats me. Always planning ahead. WE booked the RH, DJ and photographer a few days before he gave me the ring. We wanted to get good prices and now most of everything is out of the way.
* I knew the ring was coming otherwise I wouldnt have done sooo much.

I am exactly the same way. I am used to planning others weddings so i know what has to be done, etc... I always said, and say, if I quit as a teacher, Ill be a wedding planner. I love it. But I find planning my own, with him, is SO much easier than doing it solo!
THANK YOU GIRLS for putting my mind to ease!!!

I feel like I have been planning since I was 12!

But, so funny, I travel a TON for work and would secretly by wedding magazines for the airplane (and hope the person next to me didn't congratulate me or anything embaressing!).

Once I got engaged I pulled all of these dog-eared mags from my night stand. SO funny!!!!

and now I am happy I did so, there are no Spring mags out but I have a bunch from '06-'07!!!!

I had a million ideas (that I should have written down! ). I wanted sooooooooooooo many different things.... the ring really makes you calm down about planning though. Before I wanted bells and whistles and fireworks and everything humanly possible and now I'm just happy to be getting married, I dont need too many fancy things!
