How many of you............

So girls are you taking your FH surname?
Just curious as a friend of mine getting married next month just told me shes keeping her surname!! I was shocked, she said it was because she didn't like her FHs!!!!!!! OMG!!!!

I can't wait to become Mrs Forbes!

Forbes is going to be your new last name????? That's SO cool!!!!!

I am thinking of hyphenating my last name. It will be weird because one name is SUPER Italian and the other is Irish. I just feel bad because no one in my Family is carrying out my last name. I want to keep it.

I am keeping my last name and adding FH's last name, so I have a three part name. I am doing this for professional reasons. FH for some reason was against a hypenated last name, but ok with my three party name! whatever.

I was thinking about not taking it because I am pretty established in my career but decided to take it and maybe continue to use mine at work. I think FH would be upset if I didn't take his name.

My FH is not cool with me even hyphenating it but I don't care. I want to keep my last name with his. I think that is pretty reasonable.

I am pretty sure I will keep my name.

I think this is a very personal decisions for someone and people's reasons (for taking or keeping theirs) are different. Name recognition is very importnant in my career, my father has no sons and I want to preserve a name that clearly identifies my Croatian background. These are personal reasons (no great feminism or anything) and FH knew long ago that I am not a woman who will give in on things that are super important to me so he says he will be ok with it. But then again, maybe one day down the line I will change my mind when we have children. This is just how I feel now.

Although - FH does have a beautiful italian last name!

I am taking FH's name. Although i liek how my name sounds as is and i think it'll sound strange with his last name. But i don't really care b/c taking his last name is important to me

i'm not. for girls who are, that's totally cool--to each her own. my name is special to me bc it's my dad's, and he died when i was 9. i like my name better than FH's, and i think the expectation that i should change it is a little sexist, frankly. JMO
