knew your engagement was coming sometime soon, and how many were completely blindsided?
Like, my FH and I had been talking about marriage for a couple of years by the time he proposed and while the moment he asked was a surprise, I knew it was coming in the near future because we had planned a general timeline of how we wanted everything to work in relation to school and career and stuff.
But some of you had to have a completely impulsive, never really talked about it before proposal, right?

i knew it was coming...he took me to the jeweler to show me the setting he picked out a few months before just to make sure that I loved it... but I didn't know if he bought it yet or what his plans where so I didn't know when it was coming, just that it would (eventually)

I had an idea of time frame but not the exact date. I was actually expecting it a day later ( on our anniversary), but he did it the day before.

Great question!!
I totally knew it was coming hahaha- I think after five years- that happens. I am such a surprise ruiner though. I wasn't completely positive it was going to be that night, but I probably would have put money on it. Awful girl I am.

Really surprised, even though we had been together for a long time, have a child I really wasn't expecting to get married. I actually thought possibly this year since I graduated and always said I wanted to be done with school.
I was good with the way things were, eventually wanted to get married but it was like we are anyway so it was not a big deal.

I def knew it was coming I even showed him things i liked. I just didnt know when he said he had the ring for 2 months before he asked me.

I was completely surprised, we had dated 4.5 year when we took a 2 year break and were only back together a few months when he asked.

we had definitely talked about getting married before so I knew it would eventually come but I was surprised when it happened because I had no clue. I actually thought if anything he would have asked me when we went on the yearly cruise or if we planned another trip to Jamaica, but he asked me in our apartment after a day of pissing me off LOL. So yeah I was blindsided

i knew it was coming - and i knew it was coming that day. FH is not very good at being discrete. I thought he was going to do it over dinner but he did it when we went for a walk at sands point which was better cuz it was more intimate being just the two of us. i wish i could relive the day

I was hoping to it would happen, but was surprised at the same time. I had told FH before I moved to NYC that we would be engaged before our 5 year mark- or else its obviously not meant to be. The D-Day was June 12,2008...he proposed June 6th.
And as he was proposing I kept asking him 'are you sure???? Are you ready??? Because the deadline was TOTAL BS'.

Oh yeah, definitely not super impulsive. We talked about it A LOT. I figured it was coming within the 2009-2010 timeframe, but just didn't know when, and was obviously really shocked when it happened. I really thought he would have done it on my birthday or at graduation.

Fh said he wanted to marry me but i didn't expect him to take me to the ring place and buy a ring in front of me. i probably looked like an *** standing there saying 'WHAT ARE YOU DOING ARE YOU REALLY BUYING THAT?'

I had no idea. FH and I never ever talked about getting married. I mean we have a son together, but I just figured we would live together and that would be it, which was fine by me...but he asked me to marry him completely out of the blue after our friends wedding in VA in the hotel room. I was shocked. It was beautiful.
