My parents said they'd help, but we're basically paying for everything

My parents paid for my dress and FIls are helping a little but the rest is all us.

Our parents are helping but we are paying the majority. I feel that we both make much more than our parents so why should they go broke paying for our wedding.

Well, I am not expecting any money from may family, although we were going over the price of everything and holy cow I don't know how we are going to afford it. My Fiance doesn't want to wait another year to save. His mother is going to help and said we could borrow money if we have to. I am getting together with my dad to see if he will contribute, but my family isn't wealthy, so we will see. I am getting very worried, cause we need to book the hall very very soon, otherwise I am affraid I won't get the date. We were trying to cut corners and have it on a friday evening, when it is less expensive, but my soon to be mother in law. says that is eliminating her whole family because they have to travel in rush hour traffic on a friday from staten island. So that means it is going to be even more expensive. So much for cutting corners. I don't know how i am going to do it. The hall doesn't take credit cards, so I think for the most pare we are skrewed.

We received a gift of $4000 from my father.

We paid for most everything ourselves too. My parents paid for my dress and accessories..I argued because my parents do not have that kind of money but my mom was stubborn and insisted and I am very grateful for it. DH's parents paid for the rehearsal dinner which we were also grateful for. I really wanted to pay for it 100% instead of 95% - that is my independent side talking.

My mother is paying for almost the whole wedding. FIL's are paying for the cake, the band, and the rehearsal dinner.... The wedding itself is the gift from my mother.... She's a wonderful person and I know she worked truly hard for it and she knows how eternally grateful FI and I are.... We are paying for the honeymoon and saving up to buy a house and begin nour life together....

Ladies who are footing the bill with FH...

It will be one of the proudest moments in your life when on the day after your wedding you reflect on your wonderful day and realize that it was you and Dh who made it all possible.

Like someone else said, we're paying for it, but my parents are giving us a nice cash gift, which we can get before the wedding if we need it. I'm hoping to be able to get by without it....HOPING.... It's looking scary with onll about 5 months left......

We are paying for most of the bill. My dad is giving us some money. Every little bit helps.
