For your guest staying at a hotel for your wedding?
I don't have oot guests coming but I blocked rooms off at a hotel which is literally 5 mins from the RH. I don't see the need to provide transportation to the people that choose to stay at the hotel b/c they just dont' want to drive. Not to mention..I don't know how many people are actually going to be staying at the hotel...so I really dont' want to pay $1k for a shuttle service when there may be 4 people using it!!
Is that terrible. I have one guest who keeps asking me if shuttle service is provided and I keep saying no.....
I did tell her the FH and I will need to get there too so they can hop in with us....I was thinking I'll just call cabs for people going to the hotel... it'll be like a $10 cab ride....
what do you all think???

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
Our hotel provides it for up to 15 guests and we are hiring a small shuttle for the rest- and I think it was about $250 for pickup at the hotel and drop off at rh and then return trip- I am not sure of the details, fmil handled. but you probably could get a van or something to drop them off for fairly cheap if its only 4 people

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
We provided it but FH is from MA so with all his family being out of towners plus some of mine we have like 50 rooms blocked!! You ar ein a different position. Why don't you call the hotel and find out how many rooms you have blocked and then make a decision. Also, which hotel did you block at?? Sometimes the have shuttle buses they offer so if you only have a few maybe they can do it. HTH

Ask your limo company if they have vans that can drop off and pick up. The vans are usually pretty cheap.

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
i provided shuttle service only after i found out how many people were going to be at the hotel. i also had a late wedding....it ended at 1AM so i didnt want people driving back drunk. it came in super helpful and all the people were really grateful. I actually used the shuttle to help me bring stuff back to the hotel at the end of the night from the RH. i also provided a taxi service number for the guests when they checked in, in case they wanted to leave early or missed the shuttle. but my hotel was about 8 miles from the RH so it was a significant distance.

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
We're not providing a shuttle service for our guests and I am glad we're not b/c out of the 10 rooms we blocked, only 3 of them were taken! They can find their own way to the hall LOL!

Vans are a great idea..I will definitely ask...I think later on I will call and see how many rooms were actually taken by my guests..and if it's a good amount..the vans would be a good idea.... thanks ladies!!!

Yes that's what Im thinking too.. If it's only a few rooms taken..then they can take a cab...

I think the cab idea is great. Much cheaper. No reason to pay so much for a shuttle especially when the hall is so close to the hotel.

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
i think we are - we are procrastinating on that though b/c we arent sure how many people are definitley staying over yet - it could be 15-20 or it could be 50 - so once we find out that will make it easier to decide what to do

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
if you're providing the rooms for local guests who don't want to drink and drive, then I think you can go without providing a shuttle or van. What you can do instead is give out business cards with the phone number for a local car service...let them foot the bill since it's such a short distance.

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
We got a 24 passenger bus for our guests. Our reception is literally about 10 minutes from the hotels, but we didn't want anybody drinking and driving. We also didn't want the hassle of people trying to park on the owners lawn since they don't have parking for 60 guests. It was just easier for us, and gives us peace of mind.

We did not provide shuttle service - normally the hotel would but their shuttle is already booked for winery tours out east as a package they sell - I priced a van and they wanted $450 plus tax & gratuity for a pick up/drop off.

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
We are providing a coach bus from the Hotel to the RH and back. But we have alot of OOT and blocked off 50 rooms at hotel, and so far 27 of them are booked. Most of my OOT's are coming to party and I don't want anyone drinking and driving.
But if you don't have alot of OOT's I would say do the cab thing....it's a great idea!

Re: HOW MANY OF YOU ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION
We're not providing transportation from the hotel to the RH. We really aren't having many OOT guests, and those who are coming from OOT are close enough that they will drive and have their cars anyways. The hotel that we blocked rooms at is like a minute from the RH. We got a number of a local cab company and will be giving it out to those who feel they need it at the end of the night.
