How many Rhs did you look at?

I have soo many on my list. I need a place that is going to be great for a reall, really good price, this is my reason for wanting to look at soooo many.
But, I wanted to know also is did you look at more then one in a day?
I am miss organized and trying to do things in a strech of a few days, I don't want to travel over and over agin with these gas prices,

We started by reveiwing other weddings we went too...since we had about a milion in the last two years!

I was able to knock off a bunch of places based on that...I thought of the food/the service/if there were more then one wedding at a time/ect...
One place that we loved and were sure was gonna be the one quickly got eliminated after we went to a wedding there and apparently they didn't make enough of the pasta app so by time they got to our table, there was none left and they tried to scramble to make some but we were served hard uncooked pasta! Scratched that place off real fast!

From there we decided what we wanted...big wedding factory or smaller more personalized place...it really helps you eliminate places when you know what you are looking for!

I only saw about 4 places besides the weddings we attended!

We looked at 3, Leonards, Watermill, and East Wind. We had planned to see more but fell in love with East Wind!

I have the magazine that has the list, thats where I got most ideas from,lol. I looked and anything that started at a high price I won't look at!!!


That's exactly what we did...got that mag - if the prices were too high - we didn't bother checking it out. I made my list also based on suggestions from the girls here!

We looked at 6...I hear you on gas prices...here is what I did...

I picked a dozen that I liked...decided my dates and budget...call them and ask them approximates...if they don't have your dates or they are too pricey, cross them off...then make visits on the same day in the same area! That is what we did, and it worked nicely! We looked at four in one day, and booked the last one we saw (Watermill)

I went to about 23 before booking....and well I ended up booking with the original 1st place I looked at

We looked at 13 or so places... I have a bunch of prices for Oct Nov 2008 for

Larkfield Manor
Oheka
Fox Hollow
Westbury Manor
Bourne Mansion
Dowling Mansion
Venetian
Chateau la Mer
Crescent Beach CLub (LOVE IT!!!)

And a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head. FM me if you want any info...

We looked at a few a day, but I would def spread them out bc after a few they start to look the same!

I think we checked out about 5 halls, over the course of a few days. We pretty much decided right away though once we went to our hall.

we looked at 3 in one day....fell in love with JT and booked!!!! But everyone is different! My SIL looked at almost every place on the island!!!!!

i called up a bunch of places first to get some quotes. i only visited those in my price range. And I did take a few saturdays and went to all the places in similar areas. I think I saw about 7 or 8 RHs before deciding on the first one I visited.

I have started calling someplaces but,some dont do quotes over phone , so I figured I'd still lokk at them and see how good they come off in person.


I didnt even think places would give quotes over the phone so I never even tried!

I went to 21 (yes, that's right 21!!!) places! And ended up going with the 20th one I saw, so I'm super glad I kept looking!

I defnitely looked at more than one in a day. I would Mapquest out a plan of attack, witha logical route to follow (i.e. all the ones in Woodbury in one day, or a bunch out east one day). The most I saw in one day was 4 or 5, I think. But most of time I saw around 3 a day.

In case you're curious which place I ended up choosing, it was The Fox Hollow. I got a *fantastic* price, with a ton of things thrown in. But, I think I got a break because: 1. I'm planning everything fairly last minute, and 2. I met with the actual Sales Manager b/c they were short-handed on Banquet Managers that day, and I think he hooked me up, LOL.

I once went to 4 in a day. We wanted a place on the water, and looked at as many on the water in our budget as we could find.
We actually booked the second place we looked at.... we looked at a whole bunch, and kept thinking back at how pretty we thought the Thatched cottage was.
Here's who we looked at. They all were beautiful. We were stressing like crazy. Now that I've booked the hall, i haven't done anything else though!

We looked at 3 and we ended up going with the first one we looked at. We just looked at the other two to make sure.

Westbury Manor

We went with Woodbury CC b/c we loved the sales director (personality plus), we loved the feel of the gardens for the tropical look, and I've been told by friends and family that the food there is incredible...plus Andrew the SD was so accomidating....how could we not go with a wonderful place like that.
