How many things do you have done for your wedding?

Original post by kedjmay2015

Hi ladies! I was just wondering how many things you have done for your wedding?

I am getting married in May and I feel like I haven't really done much. All I have done is put the deposit for our venue down, order save the dates (mailing them next week ), and order little things of easy (that I just needed now of course haha). We have a tasting with the caterer on Wednesday, and are meeting with two different photo and video people.

I haven't even looked at dresses or hair/makeup either. Should I be worried? Am I behind schedule?

We booked our venue and all our vendors. Dress and bridesmaids dresses all taken care of. This weekend (fingers crossed) I should be wrapping up the finishing touches with our invitations. Now I am ordering the extras for the wedding, card box, flutes (ordered today) and the list keeps going. Lol

what kind of card box are you getting? I just ordered mine from etsy yesterday! haha of course, the cake topper and card box were so important that i needed them now.

I ordered a card box from Country Barn Babe on Etsy. Since we are having a winter wedding I bought the white distressed wood box. I also ordered a ring bearer box from her as well. FH and I have been going over a couple of the cake toppers we have seen on Etsy and have narrowed it down to two. lol Decisions, decisions.

No way, that's exactly where I ordered my card box from!!! I bought the super xl card box- it is going to be a lot bigger than usual, but fh and I plan on using it as a wedding memory box after bc it's so nice

I'm the same day as u and I feel the same way. Sometimes seeinghow much other people have already done freaks me out and I think I'm behind. I have the venue booked for ceremony and reception amd our photographer. Im hoping to book a dj within the next few weeks. I have been looking at dresses but didnt pickone yet. I would say u probably shouldnt wait til september for the dress I have heard some designers can take up to a year. Maybe if u call around, especially the bigger places they will have some with sleeves for u. Good luck

That is exactly why I feel behind too! And your completely right, I should ateast start looking now!

we are getting married in May also and we have literally done everything lol...flowers is the last but I already know the vendor and what I want.We even ordered the invites...lol..BUT my daughters sweet 16 party is in January so I did everything side by side(all different vendors though) because otherwise I wouldn't have been able to do both. But If I wasn't doing two parties I may not have done everything so fast.Even the Channa (sp?) plaque is done and card box picked out(ETSY) just not ordered yet.

Wow! That's awesome that you have everything done, even while planning a sweet 16 at the same time!! Good for you!!

I'm the end of May as well, FH and I have been engaged over a year and a half already so we've booked venue, officiant, DJ, florist, photo, video, hotel block, honeymoon, and I got my dress Memorial Day weekend.
Save the Date postcards just came in the mail, which are hopefully going out at the end of July!

FH wanted to get stuff done early so we could pay it off, since we're doing everything ourselves.

Wow that's awesome! I just got my save the dates in the mail and I wanted to mail them right away! But of course my labels aren't coming til Thursday

I'm sure every bridal shop is different but just to give you an idea... I ordered my dress in April and should get it in August (and then still have to do alternations). So I would recommend ordering it at least 6 months out, but definitely check with each shop you go to.

I had a little trouble booking hair & make up since my wedding is a Sunday + holiday weekend (like yours!). I wanted to go to the salon I regularly use but they are normally closed Sundays and would charge double. I decided to go with a different salon who was reasonably priced & will come to my house.

I just sent out my Save the Dates too so I think you’ll be right on schedule! :)

I booked a few things pretty early mostly because I knew what I wanted and was worried about vendors being booked. I just have work on BM dresses, invitations and some DIY favors & decorations.

I haven't even started looking into hair and makeup but my place is closed Sundays too! I hope I don't have too much of a hard time finding someone... I should def start looking now

We have the venue, church, flowers, band, cocktail hour music, my dress and started looking into makeup. I sent out the save the dates as well. Oh and we also have our place card holders picked out (well FH is actually making them). For the rest of it I have been slacking :/

I feel the same way, I feel like I have been slacking for everything! Ahh... I def need to start getting those major checks done

I'm the same weekend as you. We have our venue, photographer, videographer, and my dress. This week we finally met with the church and DJ so we just have to send our deposit to the DJ. I don't think you're far behind, but I would get on photographer and dress ASAP. I was told 8-12 months for dresses. We are taking engagement pics today and sending STDs out as soon as we get them back. Oh, and we also have the hotel block done.

Wow I never realized dresses took that long! I am hoping fh and I can check off our photo and video by next week!

We have the church, venue, photographer, videographer, dj, my dress, bridesmaids dresses, and we sent out our save the dates. I have ideas for table numbers and cardbox. We need to get limos, flowers, invitations, and favors among other little details. Our first dance song came to me during dinner the other night and we put it on and danced to it and it was perfect! :) I am teacher so a lot of the little details I want to plan this summer because I won't have as much time during the school year!

I'm getting married in April and being the Type A organized type I have most things done. Church/Venue, dj, cocktail hour musician, florist, photographer/videographer, limo and hotel block are all booked! I ordered my dress and the bridesmaid dresses. Sent out our save the dates and I've picked out my invitations which I'm going to DIY. We are in the process of booking our honeymoon and now can just focus on the details and save away to pay for all of it!!!

I feel productive but feel like there's still so much to do. I have church, venue, DJ, music for cocktail hour, photographer/videographer, florist, my dress, invites/ Std (picked out not ordered) honeymoon(it's a wedding present) I will be starting my DIY stuff soon... Still need limos & hotel block.

Did I mention I just started asking my bridal party? I'm slacking girls!!

I'm getting married the week after you and i have only booked the Venue, Church, Photographer, and DJ. Hopefully doing the flowers next week, and i tried on dresses, and hopefully going to order one soon! Just keep doing research and writing down vendors you like and get in contact with them- everything will come together in no time!

oh yes i got the church too! i forgot about that... do you think you found the dress you want? I wasn't going to look until September/October... do you think that is too late? I want a dress with 3/4 sleeves and figured my best bet would to look during the fall.

I would get on the dress ASAP. Most designers fall collections are already out. I was told my dress would take 6-9 months to come in, and then there are alterations, of course. It depends on the designer, but if you wait too long you become limited in options for what they can get you within the time frame.

I have booked the venue, dj, photographer, videographer, photobooth and hotel block. Florist we are holding off on for a bit. Everything else I will start doing around October when we are about a year out.

It kind of made it easier...But moneywise its really stressful. but as I do one(like cardboxes, makeup and hair, etc) I do the other...I will be relieved when hers is done, then I just have 4 months until the wedding...Im afraid one day I may lose my marbles though lol

I was thinking of doing my own card box, but simply fell in love with it when I saw it!!!! I too will be using it as a memory box afterwards.

So far I booked the venue and put a down payment which is also where the ceremony will be held. 30% due in Sept. I searched for BM and MOH dresses as my theme color is coming from what colors are available in the dress I love. My BM and MOH love their dresses. I've contacted Makeup, DJ, MC and Photo/video and decor/planner but haven't made any definite decision. Hoping by September all vendors will be booked.

We booked the venue, church, florist, photography and are in the process of getting our save the dates ready and getting blocks on the hotel.
