How many times a year do you receive (or give) flowers to your significant other?

FH worked in a florist for 7+ years and I used to received 2-3 arrangements a week ... now, forget it ... maybe Valentine's Day because I b#tched him out last year, but that's about it. He knows how much flowers are wholesale so he things it's a waste ... grrr I buy them for myself!

When FH worked in the city I got flowers every week or so, but now that he works closer to home I get them once in a blue. I always tell him to skip the roses for V-day, because they're so overpriced, so he gets me tulips instead. Right now we have 2 flowering plants, a calla plant and a gerbera daisy plant, so that's good enough for me. I prefer getting flowers for no reason than for a special occasion.

FH has no money - so i get no flowers - but i love flowers. i have dried every flower that FH has ever given me and they are aranged in many vases. so even though they die- i will have them forever

You know, I didn't think about it until I read this thread but I used to get flowers waaaay more often before we got engaged. I don't think I've gotten any since! But they were always random times, not really for occasions.

I hate flowers due to an ex-bf, lol. He used to send me roses all the time and I realized I was allergic to them but he still sent them. I still have nightmares when I see flowers due to Valentines Day 1997..2 dozen roses and a claritin-d. Yuck! The FI knows never to give me roses cause I break out in hives just thinkinng back to that Valentines Day!!!

When we first started dating I used to get them all the time...I was commuting into the city and he used to leave roses and notes on my car windshield for when I came home at night (and notes to check on my car tires for boxes of chocolate...mmmmm chocolate!). Now it is mostly for special occasions (graduation, etc.), but also whenever anything is going on...I got a huge arrangement when my wisdom teeth were pulled, but sometimes I get them just because. I do think they are a waste of $ though, they die so quickly...

I put no for other only because APPARENTLY when we first started to date, I said I hated flowers (and ok, I did say it, but only because he was SOOOOOOOOOO broke and ALWAYS felt terrible that he couldn't buy me flowers). He bought me flowers for the first time this past V-Day, and as nice of a gesture as it was, and as much as I really do like flowers, I really did feel like he wasted his money. (Oh my lord, did I just type that? )

I just don't like them, so he feels why should he waste his money on then....
On occasion, he will get them as a surprise, like he sent a dozen to work a few years ago (claiming they were from the dogs for their mommy) just because I was having a bad week, never for b'days or Valentines Day.
He does surprise me often though with thoughtful things, last night it was a Law and Order calendar, on Wednesday it was my favorite gum~they may mean nothing to some people, but to me, it's just that he was thinking about me during the day so it means alot to me!!!

Well Rachel you and I are in the same boat because SUPPOSEDLY I told DH that I didn't need a vase of flowers to know he appreciates me.
UM, I think I was drunk when I said that. Because I want flowers, d@mmit!!!!!!!

I don't really give DH the opportunity to buy them for me because I'm always buying them for myself (he ends up paying for them in the longrun.)
DH sends them to me on special occasions and holidays. I buy myself flowers a few times a month.

I don't like when FH buys me flowers because it's usually when he messes up and pisses me off. I LOVE when he picks a wild flower/s just because. He gets major points for that and I will save it/them forever.

DH usually sends them if I am upset about something or just need cheering up. I really do love to get them as a surprise. I REFUSE to have him send them on Valentine's Day, though, cuz I think that is such a ripoff!!!!
