$10K - but they insisted we get a band (which eats up most of that!) I am super happy with their contribution, and although I wanted a DJ at first, I do love our band

Good question. I'll let you know when they offer. Wedding is 6 months away. All but flowers are booked. If they DO offer, the $$ will go towards catering. Anything aesthetic, they have no say.

nothing. they wanted us to elope. Screw that. We're doing it ourselves, although my mom is covering my dress (and everything i wear including hair and make-up) and may pick up a couple of vendors (florist or photo)

So far, they've only sent us a small check as an engagement present, and haven't offered anything else. But we know they're not exactly in an any financial position to do so.

We're not sure if they're covering the rehearsal dinner or not, so far in my family, the bride and groom have always picked up that tab. But knowing how traditional his parents are, they may surprise us.

ETA: Then again, my parents are covering half my dress and the bridal shower, the rest we're covering ourselves anyway, and that's what we were prepared for!!!

A Big fat ZERO! !! ! ! and the sad part is that they brag about how much money they have!!! cheap cheap cheap. I really can not stand them.

All they want to pay for is the DJ. We're lucky we're getting that out of them since they said anything else is coming out of our wedding present. My dad jokes that in the end we may owe THEM money.

FH's family has more money than mine, they just told us they don't WANT to pay.

It's one thing to not have the funds, it's another to actually tell your son and his future wife that they do not want to help you for your wedding.

So far, nothing. There is a rumor going around that they will pay for RH but only at this one particular place that WE DONT want to have it. There is also another rumor going around that says that they will pay for the invitations ONLY if we order with the Bellport Printers...Im not feeling too good about taking their money if they have rules and regulations when they give it

Hmmm..sounds strangely familiar. They just recently bought a $1,300 Palm tree for their house in Florida..isnt that special?????

actually, FH is having a lot more guests than I am, so his parents and my parents are pro-rating the wedding. We are very fortunate :)
