My hall suggests giving the maitre d x amount of dollars and they split it among themselves. It sounds weird to me tho.
Is everyone tipping the bar/waitstaff separately?
**It was between 800 and 1000

Re: How much are you
My place recommends how much they should be given too... I know my family will each tip their waitresses that tend to their table, its the right thing to do. My father at the tasting tipped our girl $20 cause of how nice she was...

Re: How much are you
the whole topic of tipping the maitre d really annoys me. I would prefer not to even have one. Honestly, what do they do? the wait staff does everything he just says 'do xxx' and he gets 1000??? and doesnt even share his part with the waiters.
its just BS eta: my hall said $75 of BA but obviously if she does a lot for me i will tip more

Re: How much are you
Our hall recommended $3-5/guest for the Maitre'D and then $50-100 for the bridal attendant. My dad plans to have all the tips laid out in envelopes ahead of time I think, to make life a little easier.

Re: How much are you
My hall recommended we til the MD at least $5.00 pp and the BA $2-3.00 each. If they turn out to be fabulous, I will tip them more. I hear the BA at the Woodlands is OOTW!

Honestly; not ours He was AMAZING He did everything and anything we needed him to I couldnt even list everything and he worked his butt off - he deserved every penny we gave him
as a matter of fact; we wrote a letter to fox hollow about him and the bridal attendant because they were THAT good

Re: How much are you
As a part of our contract, we have to tip the maitre'd $3 to $4 per person... I hired out a bridal attendant because my RH didn't offer one.. I am giving her 18% grutuity of whatever I pay her (I dont know what that is yet though).

they dont! (at last p- most everyone i have spoken to that works a catering hall never does) my brother worked at the carrlton for weddings EXPENSIVE weddings and NEVER got a tip he was lucky if he got10 dollars from someone at the table
ask most people who work at cattering halls - they dont get the tips

Ok, honestly, they do A TON of work. My FH works part time as a maitre d in addition to his FT job. And they don't keep the entire tip, and they also share with the waitors!!!!! It's really easy for ppl to say they 'dont do anything' when they run around all night like crazy making sure your event is perfect.

Re: How much are you
My RH suggests we tip $5 pp for the MD and $2 pp for the BA. I'm going to go with that and if they do an exceptional job, I will give more.
