you do have places like 12th night that is around 2k, so not all charge insane prices. But yeah it depends.
Unless they watch wedding shows lol. Most of the over the top things ive seen are on wedding shows, not on liw
12th night is def a great suggestion.... but wedding shows and liw .... u get some crazy ideas from both.... u dont get the idea of boudoir pics from a weddin show... at least none that ive seen haha... wouldnt that make for an interesting show...
yeah ive seen alot of things in magazines, shows and LIW that i had never seen. Many things luckily i dont care for such as cry packs and things of that nature. Personally i am glad about some things i have discovered bc i wouldnt have thought about it, and then seeing it i realize how much i love it and nice little touches to add.
Sometimes it can be hard not to be tempted by certain things you see

just fyi.. 12th night isn't 2k.. lol. i wish.. . they're base package is comparative to duet in pricing.. only u get different physical items.. it's way more affordable than say sherwood triart.. but it sure as heck ain't even around 2k.

Im amazed with the prices that Ive seen here... good for you all
We are having min 250 on a sat night in May... so you can imagine its a bit pricey... and then you add in all of our extras and the vendors and all (which most arent booked yet...its gonna be a quite expensive evening...but one we will never forget none the less

For favors....Im getting shot glasses from discountmugs.com which are .58 a piece...im ordering 144 with gift boxes for .29 which i will decorate myself....everything came up to $200 in total.....at my reception only 150 guests are eating dinner and the rest is invited to the reception because im not trying to overstress my parents cooking all that food and they not making any profit
You are inviting people to the reception but only letting some of them eat?
yes....
dinner starts at 6:15.....only relatives, close firends, and out of town guests are invited to dinner.
the reception is at 7pm......then everyone is welcome to come....
the people that are not invited to the dinner are coming when the dinner is over so by the time they get there dinner will be over
I will make seperate dinner cards for people that are eating to come earlier
for those who are not invited to the dinner the invitation will say cake/dance reception at 7pm
i wont knock it b/c i know how much diff weddings in other states can be .... now if u were to try that in NYC, i think there would be an uproar LOL but good for u for saving money! the extra $$ can be put towards more improtant things!
I agree, I don't think that would fly with my NY guests, but out of state weddings probably differ. Our OOT guests will probably say W-T-F? when they see our wedding!
We have a non-NY wedding 2 weeks before our own so it will be interesting to see what it's like (i hope it's not cash bar lol)

Its hard but you really have to think - could that extra $1000 that you think is no problem to spend on something extra be better spent or SAVED in real life? It's so easy to say 'What's another $1000' but in REAL LIFE, not wedding life, you would never drop money like that!

Re: How much are you paying STOLEN POLL
Under $20
There are certain things, that I know the girls are thinking are cute, but do we really need a slipper basket, whatever happen to just taking your shoes off, or keeping them on for that matter.
Im also not having floral centerpieces, most likely just candles, or possibly a hurricane vase filled with silver and shimmery ornaments.
We spent the most money on the RH and the menu, which I figured is what most people will appreciate and remember the most, the food.
DJ we are going with FM Entertainment, who for such a widely used vendor, happens to have the best prices.
Invites & Menus I'm DIY. I can't believe people pay to have a menu made, it is sooo easy to DIY.
Photography, My dad is paying for, but we still went with a lesser known, but we liked his work, and it didn't matter he wasn't known on LIW, everyone has to start somewhere. A couple girls on here used him and they were happy with him, he is just not a vendor on here.
Dress, my mom is paying for.
I also bought alot of stuff ahead of time, a little at a time, I already have most of the BP gifts bought. I figured if I bought a little at a time, it wouldn't be such a major expense all at once, it doesn't hurt to start early.

Re: How much are you paying STOLEN POLL
The RH is costing us 18 K for a sat, night w. 200 guests. Photo and Video (4,300). Limos ( 1,030) DJ (850) Church Fee (500) We havent booked our florists yet, but I am thinking it's goint to cost around 3K. So that puts us at 27,680. We are hoping to stay under 30 K.
** my mom is buying me my wedding gown and FMIL said she 'might' be able to pay for our honeymoon. If she doesn't then we will go to cancun for a week and go all inclusive. Honestly I can prob get us a great deal $1500 for the 2 us. So we are not really stressing over that.
***Had I kept my sat. afternoon wedding, I would be saving 6 K

I was at Michaels today and I saw their DIY BRIDES Mag, Wedding invite kits..and they are so beautiful! it was only like 30 bucks for 40 invites. I am pretty sure this is the route I am taking.
