I know what people spend on things is a touchy subject and if you don't want to answer or want to FM me, that's fine... I'm just trying to get a handle on our budget. I'm trying to figure out where we can cut costs since we went 5K over budget on the venue (WHOOPS! It'll be worth it, even if FH doesn't see it yet )
Flowers was something I didn't budget much for because it's not something I know ANYTHING about.. so I budgeted 2K.. is this enough? We'll need my bouquet (nothing huge or cascading), 4 BM bouquets, 7 bouteniers (how the hell do you spell that?), and 2 corsages.. and we'll have about 17 tables at the reception. We're thinking all low center pieces or MAYBE alternating high/low if we can swing it. When FH proposed, he used votive candles everywhere so now we have 144 of those so I'm hoping we can make use of them somehow lol
So what are you girls spending and what are you getting for it? I don't want to go to a florist and tell them my budget and leave in tears

Thank you for all your replies ladies! This makes me feel much better and after looking at our budget spreadsheet, I'm going to try as hard as I can to keep the flowers under 2K. Much appreciated! <3
When meeting with florists tell them you're willing to pay cash, and ask them if they can do anything for you. Some will knocked the price down a couple hundred or at the very least, not charge sales tax. Every little bit saved helps after all :) Good luck, and let us know who you go with!
Yes it definitely helped! We payed cash for the deposit and we weren't charged a tax.

I'm working with Hidden Essence and they are GREAT. I told her up front that my flower budget was $1000 and asked if we could do the bridal party for less than that (3 bridesmaids, 3 groomsmen, my bouquet, mother of the bride, mother of the groom, father of the bride, father of the groom). She said absolutely- and we're even getting 10 simple centerpieces with hydrangeas for that price. She's definitely willing to work with any budget and I bet you can get what you're looking for for that price, as long as you don't mind going with fairly simple displays.
We are working with Michelle as well! HIghly recommended!

How much are you spending on flowers?
I had a small budget for flowers as well, I think also becuase I didnt realize how much they would cost. I wen to burtons and they gave me the best price!! 13 tall centerpieces, bridal bouquet, 6 bridesmaids, 9 boutonnieres, corsages for parents and grandparents, and pew bows with a few flowers for 2000. All other places quoted me at least 600 or more for mix of tall and short CP's.

We bought some tea lights to go with our centerpieces, (will post pics soon) we had too many so our MOH is using some at the Bridal Shower. Maybe you can do something like that? Or both the shower and venue?

How much are you spending on flowers?
I haven't booked my florist yet, but I have a small [unrealistic] budget of $1000 for flowers & decor. I have 6 bridesmaids, 6 groomsmen, 1 jr. groomsmen, 2 fathers, and 1 mother. My plan was to spend $400 on flowers (small $25-$30 bouquets for the girls). However, I visited Wick's Florist last weekend and received a quote of $1200 for all flowers, including low centerpieces in 6' cube vases and tax & delivery! I plan to spend another $100 on candles for the tables (found 72 votive candles for around $42 for all white at a store by my job, Lots for Less, or $50 for turquoise at candles4less.com). I also will be using long-stem votive/tealight holders (found a pack of 3 long-stem votive holders for $2.99 at Lots for Less and similar tealight ones at dollar tree for $1 per piece). I plan to spend no more than $8 or so per table on candles and light it up for a total cost of $1200-$1300 including all flowers.
Well I thought I had a plan, but now you all have me feeling like I need to check out Burton's before I book Wick's.

How soon does everyone recommend finding a florist? I was probably going to wait until the summer/fall. Is that too late?

We LOVED Burton's! We got a lot of flowers for less than anyone else quoted. The best part like some of the girls were posting is the kind of flower does not impact the price. I like that I can change my mind until just before the wedding without impacting the budget!
